Related: About this forumI'm REALLY going to miss this little guy
He was the first of the kittens to let me have any touch contact and was almost totally socialized before we brought him inside. Given his age, he is absolutely my biggest success story when it comes to feral kittens.
I'm glad he will have his sister as a companion and they will have my brother's cat, Banksie, as a furry foster mom. She LOVES kittens. (The new moms are my brother's house mates.)
One more day and then I'll be but they are going to a GREAT home with GREAT new moms. And best of all, I will be able to see them again.

(27,287 posts)Gwyn is just so special. My friend fell in love with him when I posted the first photo, while he was still outside. When the new moms came to visit and meet the kittens, part of my 'angst' evaporated because of the pure joy on their faces as they held the kittens.
One of them was in tears as she talked about losing her beloved Henri, not all that long ago. She's taking Eira, who is still in need of some socializing - not much, but some. She had her snuggled inside of her jacket, right next to her heart and Eira just melted. The look on my friend's face was absolutely priceless.
I think Carys will keep me busy. Still not sure if she's found her forever home, or not. Maybe she has, and I just don't realize it!

(24,405 posts)Maybe he's trying to tell you something when he runs off with her. "She belongs here, mom."

(27,287 posts)It is supposed to be a very cold Winter. Hopefully not a lot of snow but I'll be clearing a path and the feeding area, no matter what.

Today it's going to be about +80F with a red flag warning and everything and by Saturday afternoon, it's gonna be winter with snow and everything.
Within 48 hours it will be where you are.

It also looks like we will have quite a spell of precipitation if you look at that "river" snaking from the other side of the Pacific that was a typhoon last week.
Hopefully the sighting of Bruiser wasn't also an indication of his having visited his mates.

(27,287 posts)I'm going to do one last lawn mow on Monday. I find it so much easier, in the Spring, if I mow just before the grass stops growing.

(92,705 posts)That got you missed us by just a few miles. We were on the edge of it and had some chilly nights but we will have our first hard freeze this weekend and it looks like that;s it. We'll be in the chill after that unless some drastic change in the jet stream occurs.
Mowing just before the end is good. After the freeze I will tear down my scraggly morning glories and their make-shift trellises and take the tomatoes out of the pot so I can use it in the house.
I made a kitty cave for Mikey, he had one in my garage at the old place. I found a large dog crate and an Omaha Steaks styrofoam shipping box that fits inside the dog thing. I wrapped an old wool blanket around the inner box, but I may redo some of that. I cut a hole in the narrow end of the inner box and put a heavy woven place-mat inside. It will stay on the porch by the door so he can observe his domain from the door of his cave while staying toasty out of the wind.
He's really spoiled. The cave has to go in a specific spot on my small porch and right now I have a plant stand with some petunias that will be dead by Monday. Once all the death happens I can finish rearranging the porch for winter and then focus on the indoors parts. I bought an electronic piano yesterday and I have to finish making room for it before it gets here.
Enjoy the kittens while you have 'em!
I'm glad all the kitties are doing so well right now. I hope winter isn't too rough on the ones outside.
