(10,889 posts)We had a visiting RPO at one time who we referred to as the "Scourge of Squirrels". He was a handsome gray and white fella who literally ambushed them in the leaves. I saw him end the existence of several.

(27,287 posts)It never ended well for the squirrel and resulted in lots of shouts of 'APOLLO!!! DROP IT!!!'

(92,705 posts)That was "mine" was the guardian of the yard in which we had several trees that housed a number of squirrel nests. The cat made friends with them early on and would play with them. They taught her to run down the rail of a hurricane fence and rush up a tree at lightning speed, they liked to play tag and they would look out for each other, it was interesting to watch over a five year period.

(10,889 posts)of my Winnie playing with a squirrel the first winter she was here. The squirrel would come down the tree trunk just enough to tease her, she would go up a little way, the squirrel would retreat, and so on. It went on for about 20 minutes and I recorded part of it. They both seemed to be enjoying it.

(27,287 posts)I knew I wanted Madoc to have a companion. When I took him to the vet for some vaccinations, they had two kittens that someone had abandoned by the side of a busy road. Gryff and his sister.
The second I held Gryff he just melted into my arms. I also knew that, being a black kitten, he might not get adopted as fast as his ginger sister. So I made a snap decision and have not regretted it for one instant. It was like fate had lined things up.
I still get teary eyed thinking about sweet little Morgan but Gryff has done a great job of filling that hole in my heart.
