The last thing I want to do is startle her and set things back.

We had the shyest cat ever, got her from a shelter. I would try to pet her and she would move away. Finally, after like 2 years, I figured out that if I moved my hand very slowly to pet her she would be OK with that. She still does not like to be picked up, maybe because that's what we do when we take her to the vet or on a car trip?

That's major! I think she's figuring out a lot of things right now. What's it been? Two weeks?

This will pick up now. The two who came in from the yard are probably helping to convince her that it appears to be a much better life since you captured them. Some of the others have moved away but you haven't eaten any of them and you seem to be willing to still feed them. By Spring, all of them will be seeing the benefits of being inside.

She's very much invested in chasing and wrestling with a whiffle ball, right now. She certainly is spending much more time out in the open.

Right now Arthur is LEAPING around the den, trying to catch something I certainly can't see. Madoc is uninterested in what (or who) ever it is.

Please never worry about going on too long. We need every moment of joy and delight and love there is everywhere.

I've never had a stand off-ish kitten. Little Moon was a little shy but is doing great with her new mom.

Of course, these are also the oldest kittens I've ever taken in. When I brought the Madoc and his littermates to the vet, he estimated they were 4 weeks old and said I probably brought them in just in time to easily socialize them. I'm thinking these kittens were at least 8 weeks old.

And I know they are out there, thankfully, for all the lucky various animals. Thanks to all of you. I love all animals...more than i love most people lol

It just feels good to give them a much better life than their feral relatives. Although they DO get fed twice a day and have several shelters scattered around, should they choose to use them.

Having one just snuggle up to you like that is so gratifying! One of our older cats did that when I brought him (literally) in from the cold. (it only took about 6 hours, which still blows my mind)

We have a failed foster who is still not socialized after 3 years; she has improved - at least she isn't under the furniture all the time. Still can't pet her but she isn't jumping away when we get close to her- now we just get an epic glare .! She is madly in love with our 19 year old cat, though. We measure progress in miniscule amounts.

You are doing good work with your yard babies. Your stories make me wish a baby or two would show up here.

They are twins.

One of them is friendly. The other one has bitten me many times so bad I've ended up at the hospital. Not funny!

After my husband died, he cries and cries and cries.

Finally, after NINE YEARS he came to me and stretched out and sat on my lap for about a half hour or so.

I had a lonely kitty it seems.

No more biting has occurred since the death.

Things can change! In this case it only took nine years!

That's a cat for you!
