Related: About this forumI might finally have my own kitty!
So, we,ve had 9 cats together since 94. They enter the home and I'm always the favorite for the first 1-2 months. Then they're totally Mrs. Glams cats. They surround her, sit in her lap, etc. And I'm on the other end of the couch all alone, feeling lonely. Shit, I warned the kitties years ago that if I didn't start getting attention, I was bringing in a dog! It's how we ended up with the mighty Zeppelin.
And he was my guy! And I was his. He loved his momma too, but I was his human. Had to put him down two years ago, and right back to square one.😓. But all of a sudden, Bootsy Collins has been really into me! I rescued the poor starved little thing from a work site years ago. Now, suddenly, she' hanging out with me, sleeping with me. She didn't get along with Zeppy. And I recently made the same threat (almost pulled the trigger on a Chihuahua named Mick Jagger). Maybe she understood? Regardless, nice to have one of the five on my side for a change.

Hows the little Siamese?

(11,994 posts)He's such a character! Always talking. But strangely aloof. He will take all the lovin' you want to give him, but he never looks for it. My little weirdo....

(11,042 posts)Since we moved here in 1991, my wife, daughter, and son have picked out dogs to adopt from the shelter -- and several times, I didn't know until I got home from work.
Tomorrow, I'm picking up a 2-month-old puppy that I picked out! She's an English Pointer mix, which the Foster mom says is "the calmest and sweetest in the litter."

(11,042 posts)Her name will be Bailey. We got her to keep our other dog, Barney, company since he doesn't have our son's dog to play with now, so now we will have a Barney & Bailey circus.

(22,722 posts)We have 4. One of them does not come near either of us, but she does love to snuggle with our Senior Boy.
Our two males like the sofa and both of them try to take over Mr YD when he is sitting or napping there.
The younger of our males spends a lot of time with me and sometimes spends the night in my bed.
Our other female spends 90% of her time with Mr YD in his upstairs office. It's the warmest spot in the house and she has a cozy bed to nap on. She used to sleep on my bed every night but all of a sudden decided that was not where she wanted to be and she moved upstairs.
It's hard to figure out cats; it may be that we are never going to have that luxury.
But I love having them around regardless.
