Just dropped him off.
The lady assured me that on the off chance he is Fe Leuk positive, they will call me to be with him when they send him to the Bridge. Erasing that thought!
Ps - Trying to think of a name. I'm so bad at naming pets, the last puppy we adopted was still called Puppy at 12 5 when we had to help her to the Bridge, 10 yrs ago this Christmas.

(5,116 posts)Dogs are much harder to name than cats, imho. Then again, I have a cat named Pooper, so maybe Im not the best judge.
Cats tend to name themselves. After a while, maybe days, maybe a couple weeks, the name will just hit you out of the blue, as if the kitty has sent it to you telepathically.

(59,610 posts)Yes, you're prob right.
Jingles came to me this morning because I see him & the rescue who has helped me to facilitate this process as a treasured "gift" from Mother Nature.

(27,287 posts)So, I'm thinking the closest name would be Davey.
I think Dewi is a strong contender.
I thought of Jingles this morning, as I see him & the rescue who has help to facilitate this process as a gift from Mother Nature.

Seems pets get names and get called anything and everything else along the way. My great grandmother always said much loved is a child with many names.

(25,248 posts)and take him to the vet. The vet told me he had feline leukemia and suggested I put him down. I told the vet I will wait until it looks like he is sick. I just checked on the guy this morning, he is curled up in his heated cat house in the garage.

(25,248 posts)the one with feline leukemia doesn't stray from the house and yard that much, maybe that's why he has lived so long? I can't bring any cats in my house because I have an indoor shelter cat that has herpes in 1 eye that would be contagious to other cats. We never knew the shelter cat had herpes we only saw her on an internet picture and when we picked her up she was in a box. She can see just fine out of the bad eye but we do put drops in her eye every day. I had the indoor cat at the vets when a lady looked at my cat and said that I stole her cat. We talked and found out that she had my cat's sister which we both got at a shelter 40 miles away. My daughter had been giving me heck about not taking both cats so now I am off the hook since my cat's sister has a nice home too.

(35,671 posts)The name you officially give them, the name you actually call them, and the name they call them selves. I gave up and started reviving old pet names from my childhood. So I have Patches II

(9,693 posts)Family tradition that all orange male cats are named Fred, sometimes nicknamed Freddie (my DU alias, who sadly went to the Bridge 7 years ago).

(24,405 posts)based on physical appearance. I had a solid black male once that I named Merlin because of the association of black cats with magic. A ginger tabby reminded me of a miniature lion, so I named him Leo. My current cat is black and gray striped with random streaks of red, so I named her Ember for the embers of a fire - black coal, gray ashes, and the red glow of a smoldering fire.
