My senior girl LOVES her kitty tree & is much more sociable now, joining usin living room all day rather than just sleeping in my bed.
She seems more active, even played for a few seconds with a tennis ball!
She gave us the same, "don't infantalize me" when we showed her Floppy Fish.
I've started trying go encourage her to use the "mice"-shaped dry food puzzles today. I placed it in a bed on the cat tree which has high sides so she doesn't knock it off then my oittie would likely inhale the whole thing.
I've not yet tried the Japanese Silvervine. Capnip has zero effect on her.
She loves the Evanger's wet food. She has not lost any weight yet, but her coat was visibly much shinier within 2 days of switching to this premium food. Many thanks to the DUer who suggested it!

(24,405 posts)due to the nutrition change. Maybe there is more of something she needs in it.
Also, having a cat tree gives cats a space that is all their own. Humans don't use it. Ember is happy to be petted when she is on the couch or bed with me. But when she is in the upper bed on her cat tree, she glares at me if I get close to it. She will let me give her one pet when she is there, but if I try again, she slaps my hand away. It is HER space that she goes to when she wants to be alone.
So having her own space might be improving your cat's outlook.
Funny thing is, when Ember is on the lower bed of her cat tree, petting her is ok and she even encourages it.
My girl is perfectly happy to recieve adoration. It would suit her to be petted 24/7.
You might be right about the nutrition, but her positive behavior change was immediate upon completion of tree assembly & me placing her in the (high) hammock.
Thx for sharing!
