My son and dil have a male calico. I wouldn’t trust either of them to know for sure but it was vet confirmed. It’s rare but there are male calicos.

Our vet and his friends have seen about a dozen male calicos over their 70 yr careers. All but one were sterile. And he was a polydactyl.

It's a sex-linked thing. Tortoiseshell, blue-cream (aka dilute tortie), calico, and patched tabby or torbie are so often female that nobody ever thinks to check otherwise. Almost all male tricolors are infertile because the gene is sex-linked. There was once, before my brief time in the "fancy", a very famous tortie Persian male, Tortie Man of Dallas, who wasn't. He was in great demand for breeding, but he never sired another like himself. In fact, IIRC, he never sired another tortie male at all. I saw a picture of him once. He was a handsome boy. That was before Persians got as squish-faced as they are now.

He came up on the porch and ate the food I put in his shelter last night, but it’s gonna get so cold. He’s a 12-year-old kitty

She came tearing in the door once like someone was after her, hid in the studio bathroom all night, and was anxious to get out as soon as I came down in the morning. She's gotten more feral since Vicky died and Josie arrived.
I re-oriented Josie's house inside the crate and put a blanket over it. The door was facing west and I didn't want her to get the wind. She was in the house and was Not Amused. But she stays there all the time when I'm out there, so what was I to do?

I just took in the last of my outdoor guys. He went to dvm and is in a bathroom now. Usually I keep them in a drop trap for 2 weeks to tame them so I hope the bathroom works. I hope he will be ok, he was more scared today and hiding behind a storage bench. If you work with them many can adjust and live indoors.

My feral, Mr. Cat, owns my front porch, where there is a heating pad on a cushioned chair, and a heated water and food bowl. He seems quite comfortable curled up in a ball on the chair when it's cold like it is now. I'd like to bring him in but he isn't interested, and my indoor cat would disapprove.
