Related: About this forumInjury update on Maybee....she's so much better this morning!
My girl is much improved this morning. We thought we were headed in for X-rays first thing this am
the emergency vet was so busy last night that we opted for an exam and a carprofen rx to get us through the night. She wants to play and we cant because last night she could barely walk, sit or anything else. She wouldnt even eat last night. Ill keep her busy today with puzzles and we will reevaluate frisbee fun in a couple days.
Im grateful for the well wishes of DUers last night. I was really scared. I think shes going to be okay.
Maybee at the door asking for a play:

but I was really frightened. She was so off kilter and wobbly. Clearly painful. I held her all night. Thankful I can take her to work with me and keep an eye on her.

(7,454 posts)going in for cruciate ligament surgery. She is an escape artist and probably tore the ligament climbing over fences. Guess who is now having all fences dog- proofed 😁
MontanaMama
(24,023 posts)When is her surgery? I will hold you and Scout in my thoughts.
We had a chocolate lab who defied fences
.thats a tough one for sure.

I'd probably have the vet xray her just to be on the safe side, in case of a hairline fracture, just to make sure she heals properly. But that's just me. lol
TY for the haopy update!

(24,023 posts)She's under my desk at the moment staring at me...willing me to play. We have a follow up at our regular vet this afternoon for xrays. Fingers crossed there is nothing more serious going on.

(92,696 posts)I was hoping she'd be back to normal by this afternoon!
I'd slip her a little cbd a couple times over the next day or so to make sure any sub-cu tissues that might need it can heal up, and it will ease any pain too. Plus it will help slow her down a bit, maybe a little more sleep time.
What a sweet little girl.
MontanaMama
(24,023 posts)I should continue the CBD. I will definitely keep it up through the weekend. Slowing her down will be key. She's with me at my office right now...under my desk staring at me. The vet says I can walk her on the leash and I will do that this afternoon.

(92,696 posts)Keep up the cbd through the weekend and that should be sufficient. I like the leash idea too. The cbd will certainly calm her down some.
I so glad she's okay.

Any dog's close call scares me
MontanaMama
(24,023 posts)I was really scared last night. Dogs are amazing creatures...I didn't think she would pull out of this quickly but she is improving by the hour.

(222,165 posts)I know how it is, you can't explain to a dog why they're not feeling well and to add stress to the mix, it often means a trip to the vet. Though my dog was never a fan of riding in the car, they liked him so much at the vet since he was friendly and cooperative, mainly because he'd spent time there as a puppy. He was a pet shop rescue and a vet tech who had worked for my vet placed him with me...
