Related: About this forumGot a nice surprise from Lush, this morning.
I was still dishing out the food when this happened, just a few feet away!! Before this morning, Lush always hid beneath a bush or the garden bench when I was in sight. There's still a lot of nervous behavior but I'm going to classify this as progress.
They got some extra wet food in the mix because we might get some nasty wintery mix weather, today, and I don't know what it will be like at dinner time.
I hope they won't expect this EVERY morning!

(92,378 posts)So I am still wondering if this just a visitor for food and company. For a feral cat, looks really clean for that much fur, Just a thought.
That you are getting closer is good, maybe soon you two can get better acquainted!

(27,257 posts)They apparently have a sturdy shelter from bad weather and they certainly get regular meals, and not just from me. During warmer weather I've seen a number of them lounging around in the shade and doing a lot of grooming.
Scooter is a total fluff ball. Spooky's coat looks so much better than it did when I first spotted her. Her fur no longer has that rusty color mixed in with the black.
Having nutrition available certainly helps. I can't really tell from pictures but that's what struck me. They are fortunate to have you and whomever else there to help them survive, it shows!

(1,230 posts)Many thanks for taking such good care of the kitcats. You inspire me to be a better person and I look forward to your posts and pictures every day. Ive been lurking on DU for some years now, but youve drawn me out. Since you are the first place I check when I come to DU, you get my first completed message here. 🌞
There have been a few cats in my lifetime, but Im highly allergic, except for Sahara, a Siamese, and her son Cross-eyed Clyde, both long since of blessed memory. Im a dog person, raised by a Boxer named Chico. Molly (Good Golly!) the pittie and I rescued one another 9 years ago this May. Were becoming old ladies together, and Im more than all right with that.
Sending some sweet Shalom your way.

(27,257 posts)Taking on these fur babies has so improved my outlook on life. They all have their own story and something that makes them special.
They really have brought so much joy into my life, and I've been able to find their siblings good homes, which is very satisfying.
The outdoor felines have taught me to be patient and persistent.
