Florida brings back motor vehicle inspections ;-)

Ok, it was really just a shake down. I had to bribe her with a can of Friskies. She likes to hang out at the Muay Thai boxing gym down at the other end of the building. Those folks don't arrive until late afternoon so she hits me up for food in the morning.

And my son lives in Florida, I’m horrified at the lack of inspections there. He and his wife drive young, well-kept cars, but it’s possible that they could get in an accident with someone whose brakes failed and had no reason to fix it.

Every day I see someone who has no break lights. There are people driving with body parts hanging off of the sides of their cars. Many people have no insurance at all. You have to buy uninsured motorist protection because the state is too damn lazy to go after these folks. My wife and I were living in Boston about 10 years ago. I went to buy auto insurance and asked about uninsured motorist protection and the agent looked at me like I had two heads. Vehicle inspections are a pain, but getting in a wreck because someone was driving and unsafe vehicle is way worse. We used to have inspections for emissions and basic safety features, but good ol' Jeb came along and did away with all that. Now you can cut the catalytic converter off an old car and it's unlikely you will get caught.

It was a pain but worth it to keep some of these 2 ton booby traps you see rolling around off the road.

Other folks are feeding her. I would feel bad about taking her away from here. She's lived in these warehouses for almost 10 years now.
