Related: About this forumNew bed
Being I am now being told that I have polyneuropathy in my feet (among other places), I was told by the doctor that I needed to buy a new bed as the adjustable thing I had was a POS and it wasn't doing me any good at all.
So, I bit the bullet and bought a new one at the end of last year. It seems to be helping me out quite a bit and I'd say the cats agree; in fact they've taken the entire bed over.
Now, where do I go exactly?

(21,069 posts)They really like the new bed.
It was a costly sucker but I bought it anyway.
It was worth the money, believe me.
One by one, the cats crept into the room at night.
Now they've taken it over!
They try to be careful to not lay on my feet luckily as I don't need extra weight on them giving the pain problem.
I'm glad the cats like it. They hated that adjustable bed I had. It was sleeping in a medieval torture trap and I am so glad it is now GONE.
The cats agree needless to say!

(21,069 posts)He is the cat I've written extensively about. He was in a state of severe grief up until recently. My husband died in May of last year and Mr. Andy was very attached to him and oh how he misses him to the extreme! The other one that is asleep is his twin bonded brother Silver.
They will be ten years old soon.
My late husband adopted them from the nearby kill-shelter so they were rescued.
I adopted the black kitty you see from the same shelter. She is seven years old soon. She's a sweet girl and the first black cat I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

(15,543 posts)Sleep number or whatever they are called?
And what kind of new bed did you get that is so popular?
CountAllVotes
(21,069 posts)I would strongly advise you DO NOT buy one of them.
It was a piece of junk! I discovered exposed wires on it and I'm lucky I didn't get electrocuted!
The company had NO CONTRACT with anyone to repair it so I had to wait and hope someone would show up and repair it (which they eventually did).
It was a real pain in the ass to change the sheets on it. I could barely manage it.
I HATED it badly!
UGH and good riddance!

(21,069 posts)The new bed is called a "Pleasant" mattress. I had to buy a frame for it as I no longer had one after they hauled that other thing away.
More about it here: http://www.pleasantmattress.com/about
I don't know how popular it is as where I live there is only two furniture stores.
They had two that they had sold to others with MS. I tried them both out (without looking at the price tag!) and the one I picked is great. It is a soft pillow-top mattress; double-size.
It was quite pricey I must admit but they didn't charge me any sales tax on it so it was about $1500.00 which is the most I'd ever paid for a double-sized mattress.
The cats agree as you can see!
I cannot get them to leave that room nor the bed and I do have another room with a queen-size bed in it that they don't like. It is too hard for me so I never use it and the cats strongly prefer the new soft pillow-top. I keep it around for any guests that may show-up needing a place to sleep.
Quality sleep is so important!

(59,623 posts)I doubt they'd go for it though. They look quite comfy.
Glad your new bed is helping!

(21,069 posts)Yes, it is helping.
I'd almost forgotten what it was like to not wake-up in severe pain every day.
Good riddance = Malouf adjustable bed. What a piece of junk!
The cats are back in bed right now (they wait until I make the bed up and back they go!).

(59,623 posts)I had horrid pain / burning & numbness in feet for 10 yrs. Tried various docs, all clueless.
So I started taking a high potency B vitamin and got orthopedic slippers & the pain is all but gone!
Turns out, age causes some issues with arches, which affects nerves...
What brand of bed did you get, if I may ask?
Hahaha! Cats waiting for you use your opposable thumbs for their benefit.
I hope your condition continues to improve!

I should go change it right now in fact but ... its loaded down with cats at the moment!

(21,069 posts)I don't see a picture of it straight off but that is what the tag on it says, a Pleasant Mattress.
Interesting story about it on their website IMO.
Holocaust survivors from Vienna founded the company it seems. My what a story!
You never know!
I'm glad you've found relief from the B vitamin supplements and the orthopedic slippers btw!
I'm happy for you!

(25,456 posts)...fit under the foot of the mattress and keep sheets and blankets off your feet. They would keep the cats off your feet, too. Plenty of choices on line, most of which are reasonably priced. Below is a link to one such item -

Your tabbies look like carbon copies of our big 10 yr old guy, Winston.
Your cats, of course, are assuming their rightful places.

(21,069 posts)It takes a lot of hard work eating all of those cat treats I bought them the other day.
They had a sale on them, regular $8.99 for a big container of their favorite ones, Friskies cheddar flavored cat treats for half-price at the Grocery Outlet the other day (and did they ever sell those out fast!).
I bought six of them. That should last for a few weeks hopefully. Mr. Andy likes them the most.
Mr. Silver prefers the filet mignon dry cat food however.
Its hard work eating that many of them so fast but they earn it as you can see!

(120,015 posts)I once had a CA king water bed, and five cats. Much of the time, I ended up sleeping across the bed at the top. Who knew that five cats could take up an entire CA king bed???
CountAllVotes
(21,069 posts)You'd need a king size bed to accommodate that many!
lol!!

(120,015 posts)whole family, liked to sleep stretched out on his back, all four paws fully extended, right across the middle of the bed. Cracked me up.
