There's an air show in Flint, this weekend. Some planes are arriving and scaring the kidcats

Every time one flies overhead, they hide.

Air shows make me nervous, anyway. I live relatively close to Flint Bishop Airport (just a few miles) and I've had nightmares about plane crashing into the neighborhood. We aren't under a normal flight pattern but I don't think there will be any of those, this weekend.

When I was station in Iceland, it was an air base and the clinic AND barracks were very close to the air field. The noise from the jets became more of a background noise. The only time we paid attention is when someone shouted 'BEAR ALERT!!' which meant it was a Russian MIG zooming overhead.

...C-130s, C-141s, KC-135s, and assorted helicopters and small jets. The C-5s engines ran all the time. After a while, we only noticed when all the engines were off. The silence was almost eerie.

I'm sure the Blue Angels are also great, and I'm sure I'll see them one of these days. As for the smaller planes, they're ok, but if there isn't a jet team, I probably won't go. The precision jet teams send chills down my spine.

We are a small city so the hospital sends some emergency patients to Buffalo or Erie by helicopter. The flight routes go past my apt. building and can be seen through my living room window.

Ember has become used to seeing those flights and hearing the copters. So when she sees one in a movie, she looks at the window and back at the screen, trying to figure out how those noisy birds got inside the apartment.

Maybe they'll adjust through the day when they realize they aren't in danger.

My cats don't seem to care about planes or fireworks, thankfully. Maybe I'm just not noticing, but it seems like there are fewer fireworks in my immediate area than there were a week ago. Maybe the AH that shoots them off for an entire month before the 4th got turned in......and hopefully fined.

melatonin. comes in soft little star-shaped chews that you can crumble into wet food. Helps keep them a bit calmer. I have to give them to my guy because of the insane construction next door. About $12 for a jar of 60.

It's made by a company called Vet Classics. It's a small soft treat that our dogs like and will readily eat. It works very well. It's for dogs and cats. You can also find it on Amazon, although our Vet sells it for less than Amazon.

MO and we have the B-2 bomber fly over occasionally. Whiteman Air Force base is a little ways from us-maybe 60 miles away and they will do fly overs for different occasions. I assume it counts towards the pilots flying time they are required to do. They are past us before we hear them. Occasionally we will know in advance they are going to fly over for an opening day football or baseball game.
