Somehow the impossible happened. Carys got even sweeter.

Last night she was at her usual spot at the end of the bed. I stretched out next to her and she let me give her more scritches.

After about a minute I stopped. She opened her eyes, looked at me, scooted closer and reached for my hand with her pretty little paw.

This happened a couple of times. When I returned to my pillow, she followed me and asked for even more scritches. When her scritch tank was full, she returned to the foot of the bed.

I woke up at about 4 to find her sleeping right next to me. That's a first. I guess that might be shift change time because then she wandered off and Sian took over. It was a great way to start my day.

grooming mode and will end up licking my arm or the back of my hand. She doesn't know to stop where her fur ends. I've woken up a few times with that going on.

5. I often check on her siblings to see how they are progressing

They are at about the same stage as Carys. Kind of reclusive and set their own rules for contact and affection.

Still, their progress is impressive when you consider their age when we brought them in. My vet told me that once a feral kitten reaches 4 weeks of age, it gets increasingly difficult to socialize them. Carys, Space Boy and Moon Dust were between 4 and 5 months old.

Your heart must be quite full.

Oops for the duplicate. I’m typing with one finger, on my non-dominant left hand, while lying down with one of our cats sleeping on my right shoulder.
