Related: About this forumDylan spends most time with his mom, but not Dewi. And today that's not a good thing - bad weather
We are in for thunderstorms and some might be heavy. Dewi is napping on the deck. If I take him to the fence line so he can join Tabby and his siblings, he will just turn around and run after me.
I decided to move the pet play pen to the screened in porch and if he's still here when the weather hits, I'll move him (temporarily) inside. If the weather looks TOO bad, I can easily move the play pen to a more secure part of the house. I am hoping he can sense something in the air and scampers back off to the protection of his mom. Even I can sense a change in the atmosphere.
My kidcats all hide during thunder storms so if he's still here I'll keep an eye on the inside kits but probably stay close to the baby.
I'm also putting my car in the garage since they said there's a chance of significant sized hail. And, yes, my weather related PTSD is waking up my anxiety. I don't even want to think about losing power because tomorrow and Friday are going to be dangerously hot and humid and running the AC would be hard on the generator.
Life used to be so much simpler.

(7,421 posts)but you seem to be doing fine. Dewi certainly trusts your problem solving credibility.

(27,255 posts)I'll keep an eye out to see if she comes looking for him. If not, he's inside for the duration, which could be all night.
I just don't want to upset the rest of the indoor kidcats. I already traumatized Gryff by accidentally turning on the screened in porch ceiling fan instead of the light. I have NO idea where he's cowering.
Sian is the only one on the porch, right now. I forgot that she's not too bothered by storms.

(11,071 posts)gig with you. He is such a winner, maybe you know someone who will cave to his obvious charms?

(27,255 posts)So he's in the play pen, having a meal. I'll sit out there with him, for a while, but right now Sian is keeping him company.
It looks like we might miss the severe weather but with his eye situation and a little bit of a runny nose, I'd rather not risk him trying to shelter beneath the wood rack. This way I can keep him warm and dry until tomorrow.
I'm still checking to see if his mom is looking for him. So far, no sight of her. Maybe she knows I'll take care of him.

(5,668 posts)It got really loud here a few days ago, and one was on the bed, indifferent, while the other was sitting on the drawer chest looking out the window at all the commotion.

(14,555 posts)when she was a kitten was not afraid of storms. As she has gotten older she is fearful of thunderstorms. She either gets under the couch or our bed. Oddly fireworks dont seem to bother her, but they bother me. It makes me mad that in my neighborhood close by, someone was shooting off fireworks last night and Sunday night. They started mid June and am still hearing them occasionally. Would like to call the police, but not exactly sure where they are coming from.

(24,223 posts)storms did not bother her. But now she hides behind the couch.
We expect thunderstorms overnight, so I've brought out her carrier. She likes to nap in it and has been in and out if it all day. So, when the storm hits later tonight, I think that's where she will go.

(14,555 posts)my cat would be just as frightened by her carrier 😐.
