I love my dog and maybe two humans

Last edited Sat Aug 5, 2023, 12:40 PM - Edit history (1)

A shirt a woman was wearing at grocery store this morning made me smile.

Update 13:40 our friend Polly Hennessy told me it reads one human so I just wanted clarify I couldn’t remember I thought it said two.

"no new dogs" after one of our two, Mia, passed unexpectedly. Third time we've done this cycle thinking dogs are too confining especially now we're retired. So back to two again ... best decision we've made since Finn, our other dog! "Cordelia" (she came with that name -- and we're adjusting) is a sweetheart!

I remember reading that a newly adopted dog adapts well to a new name. We adopted a “Sammy” at the pound and didn’t know this nugget at the time. Sammy was a girl and the best dog of my life. Enjoy Cordella!

..that says 'Got Mutt?' with an adorable dog face 🐶. I've gotten more comments from that shirt than anything else. (Well, except from Florida college football fans when I wear my University of Miami extensive wardrobe. Mostly negative, BTW.)

In my case, it's my animals and no humans at a deep level. A few acquaintances TBD (moving to a new area).

My faith in my fellow human took a severe blow when my neighbor, who's helping me pack and move (I pay him), turns out to be a raging kook. I suspected as much, but last Thursday I asked him more directly and turns out he is unmoored from reality--parroted numerous RWNJ talking points, e.g. Dr. Fauci is evil incarnate, Nancy Pelosi was responsible for the damage to the Capitol because she should have called in the Nat Guard, red don had nothing to do with the violence on Jan 6 because he told his supporters to "be peaceful", all the indictments are nothingburgers like the Russia hoax, etc. etc. etc. Turns out he's catastrophically ignorant--I said in fact Russia did help red don--he had never heard of a troll farm or Paul Manafort's history installing a pro-putin dictator in Ukraine or the documented examples of Russian interference to help red don--he had no clue.

He also said that democracy here is not in danger because red don can't turn the country autocratic--Congress and the courts will stop him. He said he will vote for red don again no matter what because he's "pro-growth" and red don was better for the stock market.

He had a pat answer for every fact I raised and obviously is one of those people who is lost. I was shocked that someone who is well functioning in so many areas is so delusional. I think he's a prime example of how people can continue to support red don--they are ignorant, closed-minded, get "news" from sewers like facebook, and proud of their ignorance and stubbornness.

It's people such as my neighbor that would enable the RW to turn this country fascist.
