My little Westie

named K-9 by my son, had to be put to rest 3 weeks ago tomorrow. He had diabetes and the meds were not working. My heart is broken for now. Once my heart had mended I want to start looking to rescue another West Highland Terrier.

K-9 left his home during a monsoon storm 8 years ago while still a very young pup. He was so young that he did not even have his first set of teeth. My son named him after the robotic dog in Dr. Who. It was a co-worker who found the pup in their front yard. Since they already had several dogs, cats, some birds and a snake a new dog was not an option. My son, Jay, volunteered out home to be the pup's new forever home.

Losing a pet is so difficult. These little spirits become like a child to us and their memory lives on forever.
This quote says it all for me “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” ― A.A. Milne

I lost my son, Jay, 35 at the time of his passing to a glioblastoma brain tumor. Now K-9 is with Jay. Thank you for condolences.

It seems he brought a great amount of joy to you. Brings joy to me that you are thinking of rescuing another Westie. 💕

K-9 was part Westie but I know I want to rescue and not go to a breeder.

within a year and I am still terribly sad and dealing with the grief. I hope you can get through this time better than I have. On the other hand, I have had "visits" from my little dog and that is comforting and I look forward to them. I also saw her with my dad about a week after she died so I know they are together and waiting for me to join them.
