Related: About this forumSo Dug has inoperable cancer (update with photo)
Three months ago they removed his spleen. He will be 14 on Halloween. They hope we have six months left of quality life.
Here is Dug's story. It made the greatest page several years ago: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10027865713
Below with his head in my lap.

(10,193 posts)Spend all the quality time with him you can. When he starts to suffer it will break your hear to let him go. But we suffer letting them go, so they don't have to suffer more. It's the ultimate act of love.

(5,266 posts)take great care of him in his senior years. I had two senior puppers with spleen growths. Both were operable and Mikey lived 7 months and Rudy went well for over a year post surgery, but developed cancer of the leg a couple of years later. Please let me know if I can do anything for you.❤️ sweet photo.❤️

(4,325 posts)Dug looks like the sweetest of woozles. We had our own border collie who lived to almost 18, but the day he couldn't get up on his four legs, and fell trying to jump up on the low couch, we knew it was time, as his cries were almost constant. I couldn't bear the thought of him in pain like that, so we took the trip to the vet's. I don't think hubby or I have ever gotten over it. The only comfort we could find is that he was no longer in pain. It's a hard decision to make; my greatest hope is you have more months of quality time with him. May he be blessed with painless, or nearly painless days... he already won the race - he found you.

(8,444 posts)I hope you get at least another good six months together, and that you cherish each moment with him.
And when the time comes, I hope it will bring some comfort knowing how well loved he was, and how much better his life was because you took him in.
