I've come to realize that Arthur is the most empathetic of the indoor fur babies.

I've been going through some 'stuff' that has been exacerbated by the loss of Tudor. It's just a bad time of the year. My late sister and brother's birthdays, my parent's and my sister's wedding anniversary. Things that should be celebrations but are now cause for triggering grief. My family members are all busy with their own lives, so I'm dealing with this on my own.

Except:

Throughout this rough patch, Arthur has been either within sight of me, or right next to me. Every night he curls up with me, which is a change in his sleep behavior. Sian usually joins in but I think that has nothing to do with my whonky energy but more to do with the fact she seems to have a crush on Arthur. Understandable.

Something told me, from the day he was born, that he was a special boy.

And here he is, ready to hop on to my lap.

And a good friend of mine just had to have put down a really nice cat (male) who was 17 or 18 years old, the cat had terminal cancer of the mouth.

His other cats are being really affectionate with him.

They know when things aren't good.

And I’m glad he’s caring for you so thoughtfully while you’re going through some stuff.
You’ll get through this rough patch together.
Be kind to yourself, patient with yourself in the meantime.

A thousand times the love they receive. You are truly blessed to have so many loving beings in your home who return the love you give them in ways only they can provide.

Let that love lift you to better spirits, the past has already happened, for good or ill, the best you can do is acknowledge the pain and start taking steps forward to move away from the pain. The kitties will give you much of the love and comfort you need right now, immerse yourself in that as it is one of the greatest healing options around.

This is a hard time for me too, so many passing at this time of year for me too. The one that gets me the most is my sister's suicide about seven years ago, that one still stings real hard. I know why she did it and don't blame her for her choice, I just wish her life hadn't been so miserable. My parents inflicted serious, life-destroying damage on every one of their offspring and some of their children too. I deal with it by trying to occupy my days with busywork, it usually helps.

This gave me goosebumps.
My Grandma Bee would say the Spirit is moving, pay attention.

I have taken this into my heart and my toolbox for when stuff from the past gets stirred up and needs dealt with. Since retiring and moving back home to mountains after 30-some years in FloraBama, I’ve been unpacking lots of stuff from the past, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

I have collected some good tools that have lightened my load along the way.
Thank you again for the good advice, the gentle reminder, the nudge forward in better spirits.

...& they stay closer to you.

I had a cat like that not long ago, every time I was sick she was glued to me.

And dogs too. Only a few of those were living with me, most were pets of friends who would make the same observations.
