An amazing story from the local humane society

The story was accompanied by a photo of Baby Girl. As I started to read, I was revolted that someone could be so callous and cruel. But then the way the story has turned out, I realized the cruelty was thwarted. Hats off to the humane society and all of the employees and volunteers.

**EMPTY-NESTER** ... Baby Girl is a beautiful 3-1/2 year old female Terrier mix who arrived at HSOV on August 20, 2023 after someone had placed her in an outside kennel during the overnight- or early morning hours.
An intriguing story began to unfold with regard to Baby Girl ...
That same morning, two Good Samaritans were traveling on Interstate-77 and were shocked when they observed several tiny puppies near that busy highway. Fortunately for the young puppies, those compassionate folks stopped and began gathering them up to keep them from being struck by traffic .. And they ended up saving TEN puppies who were estimated to have been perhaps 4-weeks old and brought them to our shelter. Our shelter staff quickly posted a picture of all ten puppies in a huge cardboard box on social media (thinking of the possibility that we would need foster families who could assist with bottle-feeding).
In the meantime, our photographer showed up to take pictures of other new arrivals (including Baby Girl). HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver was chosen to help Baby Girl with her 'glamour photos' and it was apparent that Baby Girl was either pregnant or had been nursing puppies. When Baby Girl was finished with her photo session and was being walked back through the lobby of the shelter, HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan had an "Ah-ha" moment and thought about the ten puppies who were bedded down in another area of the shelter .. Could those puppies possibly belong to Baby Girl????
Fredley took Baby Girl's leash and began the procession to see if she would have a reaction to the puppies (and was followed by a parade of several curious kennel techs and volunteers). The instant that the door to the room where the puppies were snuggled up together in a blanket-filled wading pool was opened, Baby Girl immediately raced to the pool when she saw the puppies and seemed to "dive" into the pool with them .. There was no doubt in anyone's mind who witnessed this 'miracle' that these were indeed Baby Girl's babies!!! She began nursing them, giving them baths, and was actually 'smiling' at everyone to look at her beautiful puppies ❤
Baby Girl was a super mom who continued to raise all ten puppies in a quiet 'safe haven' area of our shelter until they were fully weaned, and then she felt her job was finished since they no longer needed her care. The puppies will be leaving our shelter in the near future to travel to a wonderful rescue group .. And Baby Girl is ready to embark on the next journey of her life since she is ready to find her very own home where she too will be loved, cherished, and spoiled to her heart's content.
Baby Girl has a tan short smooth coat, a long curled tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, black shading on her slender muzzle, and cute dark brown 'folded-over' ears ❤ ❤ Baby Girl has a pink-and-black tongue which she is happy to show since she is always smiling ❤
Baby Girl has a sweet, fun-loving personality.
Baby Girl weighed 37 lbs on September 3, 2023 and isn't a very large dog when you see her in person. She will be spayed in the near future and will soon be ready to find her dream home.

I remember reading when the pups were saved, but I hadn't heard the rest of the story. There are some fabulous people in the area that don't rest if they know a dog is in trouble.
