Related: About this forumI'm trying to shift the fur babies breakfast time to a later hour. It's not going well
With daylight growing shorter, I thought it might be nice to laze in bed until 7, feed the indoor kidcats, make coffee, get dressed, and then feed the outdoor kidcats and kittens at around 8, when it's light.
At 5:45 I was SURROUNDED and Madoc started knocking things to the floor.
It's raining, this morning, so outdoor serving will be delayed. I could use that extra bed time but Madoc had that look in his eyes that told me that wasn't going to be even remotely possible.
Meanwhile I'll get dressed, grab a flashlight to make sure there are no wet kittens on the deck.

(92,752 posts)Kittymom. And they all love you for it, ungrateful as they may seem at times. Madoc's tough love is designed to keep you on your toes! The stinker.
Full moon's here, kitties will be mischievous.

(27,296 posts)I didn't see them on the deck, which was a relief. Out of the darkness, Merlin and Rhys came trotting up and they were as dry as can be.
I poured them some kibble. That should hold them until it's light and I bring out the wet/kibble mix.
It kind of looks like we might almost be in the clear but I'll keep a weather eye on things.

(8,513 posts)I'm a super early riser, normally, so feeding the four guests who show up for breakfast haven't a problem as far as lost sleep goes. My problem is that if I put food out too much before dawn, it draws in raccoons.
I know that the cats will survive if they have to wait until daylight to get food. One actually has a home a few houses away. They take her in the house in the winter and let her roam in the summer. There's a possibility that two of the others also have homes but are outdoor cats who sometimes like the food here better. The fourth is the real reason I put food out. He is looking very good right now, but I suspect he's an old guy. He's not tame, but has grown to trust me enough to not run away when I walk by as long as I act like I don't see him.

(3,830 posts)We have 3. They're all divas. But one of them is more vocal
about the slightest deviation in her meal plan.
She'll hurl herself against the bedroom door until she gets breakfast.
