You made me cry. My little dog died right before Christmas in 2002 and I canceled the holiday. I couldn't force a smile for 30 seconds, let alone for 3 hours while the rest of the family celebrated. I just couldn't stand it.

I have 100% empathy for your situation. I need to get a Kleenex now.

I didn't think I was going to make it through his death. I put helper in quotes, because he was never trained, but he learned, himself, to bring me what I needed and would help me get up off the floor by putting his head and shoulders under my chest and pushing up. Then he'd stand stock still so I could use him to raise myself the rest of the way.

Porter was a Leonburgher. Believe it or not, when he found us he weight 40 pounds and was near death. Took me a few months to get him to trust me enough to join us indoors. But he never left my side after that.

I've had a great many furry companions in my life... mostly cats. All of them have been special in their own way; but there are those few who plant their pawprints in your heart just a little bit deeper. For dogs, Porter was like that. Izzie was just one hell of a special cat. She nursed me through my hip replacement, and through all the problems and decisions I had to make for my mom. There was more than one time I held her and cried into her fur.

It's snowing outside; has been most of the day. They're saying maybe 4" by morning. All I can think of is to be grateful we gave her a burial and "funeral" on Thanksgiving Day, before all this happened. I don't think I could have lived with laying her to rest in a snow covered, cold grave.

There’s nothing beyond it that’s worth a thing to me.

Even as I sit here with tears streaming, they help a lot. The other cats have been very subdued all day. The youngest, 3, came to the bed with me and reached up and put her paw on my shoulder then gave me kisses. I don't know how much they understand, but they know mama is unhappy.

Izzie was a throwaway that I rescued from a pound. I never had a fear of her running out the door. She wanted nothing to do with outside. We just finished enlarging and remodeling the catio the day before she died. She didn't even want a part of that. She just wanted either my desktop when I sat down, or the bed with me. We went thru a lot in our years together.

Hubby built a little coffin for her and we'll bury her tomorrow. Luckily we had nothing planned, cause I sure couldn't go thru the motions of entertaining.

I lost my 22 year old cat, Jazzie, a few years ago. I understand all too well what you are going through. I am so happy that Izzie seemed to be in a good place upon embarking on the trip to the Rainbow Bridge.

Izanami-no-Mikoto sounded like a wonderful cat.

If you get another female Japanese bob, I would humbly put forward the name Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, the Moon Goddess and Izanami's daughter.

Sounds like she spent her last night exactly where she wanted and needed to be.

They are family.

are absolutely the best cats. Izzie lived a long and very happy life (I am sure). All of cats have made it until 18 years. Our black cat was called Darling, she was a super sweet pea, very loving and affectionate. I am sorry for your loss.

They leave us too soon

went with her family around her. She was not alone and knew she was very loved - and she got her chance to say goodbye. Those are the best gifts you could have given her.
