do u have an itchy dog?

so, any of my peeps that have dogs w allergies- there’s a good treatment out there.
cytopoint is a shot that gives 4-8 wks relief from allergies.
i had biff at the vet yesterday cuz he’s been licking his feet to the point of damage. he’s always had skin troubles, and itchy feet. he’s got a yeast infection going on cuz of it. i’ve been treating those feet for a couple weeks w neosporin and a cone. which he is a super good sport about. but it was only helping a little.
well, he got that shot yesterday, and he hasnt licked once. already the inflammation is way down.
his allergies r seasonal, mostly. probably a few shots a yr wd keep him healthy and happy.
he also got a once a mo arthritis treatment. he’s 12, and i was worried that he was licking his carpal joints- his wrists. xrays showed some degradation, but not horrible. i know his hips suck, tho.
it was a spendy visit, w a bunch of issues including needing a good pedicure cuz he was objecting to me screwing w his feet.
but w all my doggy issues these days, this was a great relief.

i sorta hate pilling old dogs. that was the big thing to me- 1 shot or 30 pills.
it’s a subq injection, which i can handle. a monthly trip to the vet is not happening for several reasons. but i talked to the vet and she admitted they have clients that r comfortable w that, and they hook them up.
but it didnt work this well anyway. will see how it goes.

Potatoes are a common canine allergen due to the preponderance of allergen types that are contained within the potato, and they are frequently used as a carbohydrate source in foods and treats. Canines who develop food allergies, like allergies to potatoes, will experience inflamed and itchy skin ...

Apoquel worked so much better for our very itchy dog. Apoquel was a long term fix. We experimented with Cytopoint but it didn’t help him. Apoquel gave him his life back.

That said I am delighted that it made such a dramatic improvement with your dog!! I will keep it in mind if any of my dog owning friends have itchy dogs.
