It’s gotten pretty large and one day escaped out of her backyard and made traffic come to a standstill. No one wanted to see the turtle hurt. Luckily she came home in time before animal control came. Now she doesn’t use her front entrance that connects to her backyard anymore and goes in though her garage! And it was actually written up in the local paper.

It was doing it's best to try and get past our chain link fence that was blocking its path. It would go back and forth along the fence constantly trying to get past the fence. We picked it up and took it across the lawn and it bee-lined back to the same fence that blocked its path. We picked it up again and placed it on the other side of fence and it bee-lined in the same direction to the neighbors fence line on the other side and did the same back and forth dance. Finally we found a large open space were we turned it loose and it buzzed away in the same direction and it was fast ( for a turtle) and determined to go somewhere.

We just hoped that it didn' come across a busy road on its determined path.

…walking around on it. Quite formidable looking. My first thought was that some teenage boys had probably put it there as a prank.

Imagine my surprise when I went outside to take a closer look and found claw marks on the deck stairs.

Who knew that turtles could climb stairs? It was only 5-6 stairs, but still…. 🐢
