I need recommendations for a new soft bristled brush for the cats.

The old one from 20 yrs finally broke when I dropped it over the weekend.

1. I have a brush, not sure where I got it, found it in my stuff, it is boar bristle. My cat loves it.

He jumps up on a chair and pesters me until I brush him with it

I have an older cat with long hair, which is clumping/matting up most severely in the hip area. I try to pull the clumps apart with varying results, they never go away entirely. Smaller clumps in the chest area. He used to love to be brushed but - no more! Any suggestions for removing/preventing this condition?
