Related: About this forumI'm having a most shocking crisis with Sian
I don't know what's happening. She was fine on Wednesday. Yesterday she slept a lot but came downstairs and sat on my lap, checking out what I was eating. She didn't eat much, but that happens, sometimes. The only thing different we've done is give her a topical flea treatment.
Now she's just limp, listless, and I feel she's fading away from me. I can only hope I can get her to the vet as soon as they open. There are no 24 hour emergency vets anywhere near here.
This is TOTALLY out of the blue and just might be my breaking point. I'm going to hold her, all night, and hope she rallies but somehow I don't think that will happen.
I will update.

(27,285 posts)I would think a reaction would happen sooner but who knows.
She's the lone survivor of a feral litter so there could be something genetic that finally caught up to her. She is fighting to hold on, that's for sure.

(106,334 posts)What was the flea treatment? (topical?) Could she have eaten anything (plant or other possible toxic product?)
If you look at her gums, are they pink as normal (in areas not pigmented?) blanched white? Do they feel dry or tacky? If you press them do they blanch briefly and then rapidly come back to pink?
Has she urinated? Does she seem painful?
If you call an emergency clinic and explain how far away you are, they might let you speak to the veterinarian or at least a certified tech...
Keeping you both in my best wishes!

(21,067 posts)I think it was due to that flea treatment, Cheristin for Cats it is called.
After I managed to de-flea the house and the cats, they no longer were allowed outside.
They would go and hide and were listless after applying that toxic crap!
I called up the company that makes it and filed a complaint!
Now they put a *warning* on some of these flea treatments that I believe are dangerous.
Sorry to read about this!
