Related: About this forumHappy Thanksgiving, fellow DU pet lovers! Tiger, very happy and thankful for his warm little cabin.
At first he wouldnt even go in it now he wont leave hardly. Got out and had something to eat and sat in the sun for a while this morning and went back in. I have put up the transparent flaps over the door in the back and plug the warming pad in, and it stays very comfortable. I hope you all and all your pets are having a great Thanksgiving and leftover turkey.
Patches, just about as bored as I am with the college football games.

(36,353 posts)Now he can stay just outside at the back door. You can see the rain spots on the window. I think he feels a little bit smug about it. Its making me happy.

This makes me happy, too!

(36,353 posts)It looks like hes really getting used to being up here now that hes got a warm spot

(60,128 posts)Does he always acknowledge you when you are near the window?
Walleye
(36,353 posts)But when I shut the door, he got crazy and tried to open it so I let him back out but yes, he knows Im here. He knows who I am. I think he actually is aware that I fixed up that warm house for him. I once saw cats defined as heat-seeking automatons

(60,128 posts)So sad because he could have such a nice life in your home, if he weren't so afraid.
But he has his warm house you've created for him.

japple
(10,387 posts)on my carport for the one cat who refuses to come inside overnight. He would not use it. Even when I clamped one of the flaps open. So I just got him 2 heated pads and put one inside the dog house (formerly used by late, great Lady the JRT) and one on top of the dog house. He sleeps in there all the time now.

(36,353 posts)And they never really worked out. But these are very thin, very transparent and two parts so the cat can push in and out easily. I still havent put them on the front which faces my window over the back step if it starts to snow Ill try

(35,117 posts)I wouldnt want to leave it, either! It was 22 degrees outside when I got up this morning. I have begun the northern Ohio indoor winter tradition of dressing in layers now.

(35,117 posts)My pupper loves being outside in any weather, and its good for both of us to get outside several times a day. But yeah the cold winter weather sure presents its own challenges.

(3,254 posts)I thought my cat Figgy would like the pumpkin pie since he likes pumpkin and salmon. But nope he sniffed it and got up and walked away.
Maybe with Tiger he'll start to adjust to being in. A home since he has his own home.
