Last night I tried so hard to get Madoc to purr for me. No luck

He has such a wonderful, deep, rumbling purr. Hearing it always help me to relax. And he's so big and plush that I can't help but snuggle with him.

This morning he woke me up by bopping me on the nose. I reached up to give him a scritch and THAT set off his purr motor. Every time I tried to doze off he bopped me, I'd scritch him and that re-started the purring. His purrs, his timing.

Those cats next door to purr and they just won't. I have a role to play and it doesn't involve purring. I'm supposed to make sure they're fed and the box is clean and wave the stick around for them to chase. apparently, that's it.

My friend is still in hospital, was supposed to have a defib/monitor installed this morning. Might be home by the weekend. Poor thing, she had to be transferred to a different hospital 220 miles away for the procedure and then she's had to wait for a bed there for four days. In most cases that I have seen, healthcare in Montana is a cruel joke.

I'm waiting to hear how things went but she might be home sooner than I think. Her son will stay with her for the time being.

At least you got Madoc to purr, eventually.

The longest I've cared for them. I think it's the fourth time.

They are talking to me now, I always talk to them because I'm teaching them manners and other things. Two are kittens born on Easter this year, and the other is their mom. They're super smart but nobody is training them until I came along. Their mom is a tortie-point manx and has never been trained so she's learning too. She plays right along with her kids now. At first she watched and figured out that we weren't just playing, now she joins in and gets all the pets and treats for the same achievements and she loves it.

They're all just beautiful too. In fact, I have to bundle up and go over there the second shift of dealing with the litter and checking water and food dishes, and wave the stick around for a few minutes.

Patience is key. They're quick learners and already, after a solid week, getting used to my routine and the boundaries I set. They still don't see me as snuggling material, though.

Hopefully their human mom will be home in the next few days, her son will be there and he's really good about tending to their needs and i will be able to visit at my leisure. But mostly I want her to come home because she's doing better.

Leo loved to lie down next to me when I went to bed. As soon as I reached the point of completely dozing off, he would tap my forehead to awaken me. This would go on several times before he allowed me to go to sleep.

I never understood why he kept waking me up.

I usually sleep on my side or sometimes on my stomach. I would wake up in the morning with Leo curved against my back or up against my chest with his head under my chin. If I shifted during the night, Leo readjusted his position as soon as I was done readjusting mine.

If I did not wake up on my own when it was time for his breakfast, he bit my toes to awaken me, repeatedly, mercilessly, until I got up.
