Depression 1932, 'Bonus Army' March On DC- Broke WWI Vets Try To Cash War Bonds, Gen Sm. Butler: PBS

- PBS. This is an ugly piece of American history that has been swept under the rug. Very few people know about this shameful event where the US Army, led by some of the most revered heroes of WWII, were turned on the veterans of WWI in the streets of Washington, DC.

None of us remember him telling us about the Tulsa massacre. I knew about it from other sources over the years, but asked some of my buddies recently.

heard a word about the Bonus Army until 10-12 years ago. Same for the Tulsa Massacre, Wilmington, NC, the massacres in Florida then, the Red Scare/Summers, others. Inexcusable.

Someone should make a list of things we need to know from history but probably haven't been taught.

1) bonus army
2) smedley butler
3) Tulsa massacre
4) ...

Edit for clarification: I only learned about Smedley Butler after I became much more interested in politics around 2000 (Bush v Gore shocked me into activism). Tulsa Massacre I learned about during the BLM protests. Then this year or last year, I found out that there were many Tulsa type massacres.

And I'm one of the more knowledgeable citizens!
