Today in Peace and Justice history on June 25, 1978

240,000 people marched in San Francisco, California, in opposition to an anti-gay statewide ballot Proposition 6 initiated by State Senator John Briggs. Inspired by passage of a similar ordinance in Miami, Florida, it would have allowed local school boards to ban gay and lesbian teachers...It was rejected in November by 58% of the voters. http://bit.ly/1aaXq0A
