A warm greeting to all of you good people here. I am the one who posted awhile back about taking Phoenix Tears.
I just found this article while passing on the cannabis oil recipe to yet another friend with cancer. I have mantle cell lymphoma and the latest CT did not show any disease, though I know I am not all the way cured yet. I may have to do another Rick Simpson 90 day protocol, or at least up my dose for awhile.
Peace~~Felix
Spain Study Confirms Cannabis Oil Cures Cancer (Reloaded)

The medical science is strongly in favor of THC laden hemp oil as a primary cancer therapy, not just in a supportive role to control the side effects of chemotherapy.
The International Medical Verities Association is putting hemp oil on its cancer protocol. It is a prioritized protocol list whose top five items are magnesium chloride, iodine, selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid and sodium bicarbonate. It makes perfect sense to drop hemp oil right into the middle of this nutritional crossfire of anti cancer medicines, which are all available without prescription.
Hemp oil has long been recognized as one of the most versatile and beneficial substances known to man. Derived from hemp seeds (a member of the achene family of fruits) it has been regarded as a superfood due to its high essential fatty acid content and the unique ratio of omega3 to omega6 and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) 2:5:1.
Hemp oil, is known to contain up to 5% of pure GLA, a much higher concentration than any other plant, even higher than spirulina. For thousands of years, the hemp plant has been used in elixirs and medicinal teas because of its healing properties and now medical science is zeroing in on the properties of its active substances.

(15,189 posts)And yet we still let people die from cancer because of the stigma pot has. Pretty outrageous really. Every time I see a St. Jude commercial I get sick that even they probably don't condone cannabis use either. All the money they wasted on their big machines. How can they break people with pot?

Wow so many people coming down with cancer, and I have been sending information to them how to make this oil, NONE of them ever heard of it, because much of the country is still in prohibition.

"According to Dr. Robert Ramer and Dr. Burkhard Hinz of the University of Rostock in Germany medical marijuana can be an effective treatment for cancer.[v] Their research was published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute Advance Access on December 25th of 2007 in a paper entitled Inhibition of Cancer Cell Invasion by Cannabinoids via Increased Expression of Tissue Inhibitor of Matrix Metalloproteinases-1."

(14,829 posts)Cannabis Oil cures cancer". Cannabanoids may have some therapeutic value in treatment of invasive cancers, according to this paper. And that's welcome news. But far from magic bullet as the article suggests.

(9,154 posts)They always seem to create more questions in my mind.
This story appears to be about a cancer treatment hospital or center in Spain that has enough confidence in the science to include it in their anti-cancer protocols. I wonder what kind of remission rate their treatments produce.

(14,829 posts)real substance to it - unfortunately we've been down the road with 'bullet cures' for cancer time and time again which later don't pan out. If it's geniuinely of value I imagine other countries will begin taking it up as well.

(28,784 posts)hemp oil comes from hemp seeds and has no psychotropic activity. the oil is contained in the seed.
cannabis oil comes from the whole plant (especially and including the flower buds of female plants) and the cannabinoids are extracted in some sort of solvent (alcohol, etc.) and is then reduced.
A lot of plant material goes into making a very small amt. of oil - and the oil itself is used in very small amts.
This is Rick Simpson oil and, now, Sativex. They are virtually the same thing. The difference is that Sativex is created in controlled lab conditions with the same percentages of cannabinoids each time.
Someone making his/her own cannabis oil has to rely upon the skill of others they don't know. That's not to say it's not effective, but just to note the difference between something that has had the funding behind it to go through all the trials and to fund an operation large enough to function as a profit-making entity.
Sativex, btw, has lobbyists who formerly worked for the Drug Czar office who are now pretending that Sativex isn't whole-plant cannabis to try to get around the restrictions of the DEA regarding legal cannabis vs. legal synthetics (like marinol, which, people have found, is less effective and causes more unwanted side effects than whole-plant cannabis.)

afaik - the studies that have shown THC and/or CBD cause autophagy (death) of cancer cells has all been done with synthesized molecules.
The most recent study in Spain was done on patients who were already beyond treatment by current methods and direct application of cannabinoids shrunk gliomas. This was the first human lab experiment (clinical trial) for cancer, afaik.
The only cannabis in this U.S. that is available for use in research is not high quality and is grown on a farm in Mississippi. It's very hard to get permission to use this cannabis for tests and the research will not be approved if the scientist is not trying to find a harm from the use of cannabis - that's how our "science" is done here regarding cannabis. A study to look at benefits for vets who deal with ptsd, for instance, was recently denied, even tho cannabis is already used for ptsd in other western democracies.
Only one medical firm, GW Pharma, is legally-allowed to produce any kind of "FDA" approved cannabis oil (it's not actually FDA-approved, tho GW Pharma has appealed the DEA to allow their product, Sativex, into the American market. iow, it meets all the standards for the introduction of a drug into the U.S. market.)
It's already used in Canada, Israel, Germany and GB for epilepsy, MS, ptsd and other things, legally.
Sativex is, iirc, 50/50 THC/CBD, with a mix of sativa, indica and ruderalis strains of cannabis, suspended in alcohol, and sprayed into the mouth.
Cannabis Science Research Co., founded by biologist/Prof. Robert Melamedes (who has done a lot of work in this field) has published some patient-provided pictures of the use of cannabis oil on skin cancer, and his for-profit research group is interested in this application - but they also note these are not peer-reviewed. So, there's only is anecdotal evidence on oil itself. again, afaik.
This link shows the skin cancer pictures, etc.

The evidence that cannabis shrinks cancer cells, however, has been around since the 1970s. The research was suppressed. There are at least 5 studies that indicate anti-cancer and tumor suppression activity via cannabinoids.
This link has some of those studies:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/117030
So, the problem with producing research on this topic is within the bureaucracies of the federal govt. who protect their turf and will not, until forced, allow medical research to go forward on this topic. However, there is research, and a lot of it is funded by the U.S. govt, but it's done in places like Spain or Israel, for the most part, tho important studies have been done in CA.
One of the leading doctors with experience with cancer and cannabinoids is in San Francisco. Donald Abrams dealt with a lot of HIV/AIDs cancer patients in the 1980s and observed the medical efficacy of cannabis - though he, too, has noted that studies he has proposed have been rejected or, in one case, rewritten to indicate the intent to show a harm, tho the evidence did not prove any harm.
Donald Tashkin, a pulmonary specialist, has done long-term studies of cannabis and lung function (and there's at least one 20-year-long study) that indicate that, not only does cannabis not harm lung function, those who smoke cannabis have lower rates of lung cancer than those who abstained from both cannabis and cigarettes.
So, there's quite a bit of reason to study this issue because, based upon the small amount of work that has been done, cannabis appears to offer anti-cancer benefits.

(3,286 posts)...even CNN and their ModernMedicineInc. hack, Sanjay Gupta had a short segment on MM where the news of its effect on cancer was a revelation. I wasn't paying close attention, (as an upstanding member of the choir) but it could have been this story he was talking about.
I think he said there would be a larger piece on it later tonite. I went to their website and looked but concluded after not finding anything about it, that this info wouldn't get heavy promotion.
Check your local listings......

(28,784 posts)The information in this article is the same information I posted here, and that others have written about, more than a year ago (and that I linked to here, in post 8 - the second link.) This article links to an article that was published in 2012 on another site - again, nothing new here, beyond an alternative medicine group talking about the efficacy of cannabis oil in relation to flax seed oil.
Here's a link that talks about a program tonight. If you watch it, it would be great if you posted a link here, tho.
http://piersmorgan.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/21/dr-sanjay-gupta-on-drug-overdoses-every-19-minutes-someone-dies-of-a-prescription-drug-overdose/
There was so much that [David Evans] was saying that simply wasnt true, said the Chief Medical Correspondent. Every 19 minutes someone dies of a prescription drug overdose - [it] doesnt happen with marijuana.
According to Gupta, marijuana has the potential to be an addictive and abusive substance; about nine percent of people may become addicted or psychologically dependent. In comparison, around 15 percent of people become addicted to alcohol, with 23 percent of people using LSD or heroin becoming addicted.
To hear Gupta refute David Evans, Special Adviser to Drug Free America Foundation, tune in tonight at 9. Also, be sure to watch for Guptas own documentary, WEED, slated to air in August.
People in the medical community, afaik, do not consider LSD addictive. Why CNN says this - well, who knows. Heroin is considered highly potentially addictive. LSD is considered LOW on the addiction scale - as in virtually no addictive potential.
In fact, some research has indicated that LSD can help wean people from addictive substances like alcohol or heroin. I'm surprised, but then not, to see CNN post such incorrect information on their website.
This OP, too, is misleading because it states that research confirms something that it does not.
...Not to say that cannabis oil is not an effective anti-tumor agent. If you look at the guy who has had the longest govt. approved use of cannabis (Irv Rosenfeld)... his prescription is based upon a rare condition that creates tumors along bones in his body. Marijuana has allowed Rosenfeld to go about his life and, it appears, has reduced the occurrence of the tumors he has suffered from since he was 10 years old.
Rosenfeld offered himself to doctors for study, btw, but the govt. didn't want to know about the benefits of cannabis because they care more about protecting the lies of certain federal agencies than they do the health and well being of American citizens.

(3,286 posts)...CNN to have ANYTHING good to say about cannabis. Which is why I mentioned it and also why I didn't listen that closely. Also surprising was Gupta's position. IMHO he has been a tool of the medical industry forever and to hear him on your link and Sunday mornings blurb, was a big surprise.
I think the overall effect of these articles is good even if they've been posted before. After all, it has been mindless repition of medical industry propaganda that has made them what they are today.
Of course, this is coming from someone who is addicted............................to feeling good.
Looking forward to WEED.
