Georgia governor signs law legalizing medical marijuana
ATLANTA | BY DAVID BEASLEY
(Reuters) - People with seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis and other illnesses will be allowed to use a non-smoking form of medical marijuana in Georgia after the state's Republican governor signed a measure legalizing the drug on Thursday.
But patients still may find it difficult to obtain the cannabis oil for their treatment, advocates said.
Under the law, which takes effect immediately, patients who complete a screening process will be provided with documentation allowing them to possess cannabis oil with a low percentage of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical in marijuana that produces a high, Governor Nathan Deal said in a statement.
Those with cancer, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Crohns disease, mitochondrial disease, Parkinsons and sickle cell disease also will be eligible for the medical marijuana.

(26,312 posts)Legislation by morality. No THC, and depending on what state, you may or may not be able to even get CBD for things like PSTD (one of the main reasons for MMJ in the first place).
I read earlier on CNN that the child that prompted this legislation is now going to be able to return home from Colorado Springs with her mother and rejoin her family - but who knows how long it is going to take to get a Charlotte's Web type of oil for her to purchase legally in Georgia?
Congrats to Georgia for what I will term a "bold move" for the south, but it simply isn't enough. Legislators are not physicians and have NO DAMN BUSINESS determining worthiness via legislation.

(39,358 posts)Schedule 1 drugs are ones that have ZERO medicinal value. Cannabis obviously has value if these states are legalizing a form of the drug.
Good luck finding the oil in Georgia.
