Wife got a call from her daughter yesterday

Last edited Wed Aug 30, 2023, 05:03 PM - Edit history (1)

and she had a great story about her granddaughter’s husband who was working in a small factory and got cut at work. With a work injury, a drug test is required. He flunked the cannabis part. Boss told him he had to take 2 weeks off, go to rehab and then pee clean.
He told them to forget it he is quitting.
Boss came back and said he is a really good worker, so they have now changed the policy. He can stay and use from now on.
Got to love it, change taking place.

I’m glad to see some people are willing to challenge old rules that are baseless. And, if this person was a regular pot smoker I don’t think he’d piss clean in 2 weeks anyway. I think it will show for months if you are a regular user. I don’t smoke it anymore but I ate some gummies a few times a year or so ago. At a Dr’s checkup a couple months later it still showed positive. I’m retired so I don’t give a shit but it’s a pretty stupid rule.

Letting a contentious and qualified worker go because of pot is bonkers.

Good for him,... he should ask for a raise now that he knows he is valuable to the employer.

Ain't capitalism a hoot.

legal 40-50 years ago. Government would have had tax revenues to pay for lots of programs. I sent letters to every member of Congress and James Earl Carter in 1974. Most responded. Back then they could have regulated it like alcohol and it was an opportunity missed. Today, it is very lucrative for those living in states where they can legally grow and sell their products. since it turns up traces of use from nearly a month prior. THC is stored in body fat and the test is just too sensitive.

It was never changed because detecting an active high was never the point, Harry Anslinger demonized cannabis because he hated Hispanics and Nixon demonized cannabis because he hated black folks, hippies, and students and a ridiculously bad drug test was useful to ruin their lives, which it did efficiently.

They stopped testing for it about eight years ago here. Now that we have both medical and recreational pot, the test is considered just as useless as it always was.

Go figure.
