Study finds medical marijuana has no impact on teen drug abuse

Drawing upon data from 13 states from 1993 – 2009, professors from Montana State University, the University of Oregon and the University of Colorado Denver found that medical marijuana actually had a negative impact on the consumption of cocaine, the use of which declined 1.9 percent in areas that had legalized medical marijuana. It had no statistically significant impact on teen marijuana use.

Data used in the study was collected from the Center for Disease Control’s annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), which is often cited by the nation’s top law enforcement officials and lawmakers when discussing drug policy. The most recent YRBS found that more U.S. teens are smoking marijuana than cigarettes, attributing public education campaigns and regulatory controls for the reduction in tobacco use.

But, But, But, isn't it a Gateway drug. LOL! MJ used to help me stay home and not go partying and doing Cocaine in the 80's. Unfortunately, today's weed wouldn't do the same. But I'm glad more kids choose to smoke pot than do Cocaine.

They are trying to produce medical Marijuana that doesn't get you high. I think they accomplished that a few years back. No more real Red glassy eyes, radical cotton mouth, and an urge to sleep at the drop of a hat. It's sad. We need to legalize it so we get imported good stuff from Thailand.

but i've been burning tree for nearly 30 years now, and the stuff i get from my favorite local dispensaries is every bit as good, if not better, than the stuff i smoked in high school. and we weren't smoking dirt weed in high school.
