"Young cannabis smokers run a risk of lower IQ"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19372456
As a 17 year old on-and-off pothead since 15, this is quite frightening.
I am 5 days clean and I am trying to quit for my final year of high school.
It's getting harder to back up the "marijuana doesn't kill brain cells" argument that I hear so often in British Columbia.

However, the risk of damage to your life from criminalization of marijuana is not even subject to debate and far exceeds the risk of damage to your life from actually smoking marijuana, even if you start when you are 15.

Alcohol kills brain cells. Lots of them. The long term risk of the many psychoactive drugs routinely prescribed to children is not clear. What is clear is that tossing people into jail, pushing draconian civil penalties on them, etc. for using marijuana is bankrupt bullshit policy.

Queue the next monthly marijuana OMFG it might get legal scare story.

possibility of an effect that will require some kind of custom-designed and maintained intervention.

So, I'm interested in any discussion of this that goes beyond a limited agenda to attack cannabis.

Also, the definition of IQ is very much up for grabs, so whatever research is being cited here needs to establish the authentic validity and reliability of whatever their measure is, i.e. the instrument by means of which IQ is identified and described.

The test monkeys passed out due to lack of oxygen, which cause brain cells to die. This IS what the government wanted. This is just nonsense. Here's a good video for those who need medical MJ. Raw Cannabis.
