The Stupid Things That Gun Nuts Do

Just this past Friday, I explained how I like to extend certain subject matter into open-ended series, if for no other reason than so often, the same stuff comes up again and again. Said another way, shit doesn’t just happen; it happens over, and over, and over.

Nowhere is that more true than in the sphere of American gun nuttery, and it’s no mystery why. In fact, I consider it a guiding principle of human nature, as basic to understanding the behavior we see around us as knowing that those who abuse drugs often have addictive personalities, or that fat people have a tendency to eat more than slim people do.

As simple as I can make it, this guiding principle would read: Not only do stupid people do stupid things, they never learn to stop doing them.

As this principle relates to gun nuts, how many times do we have to hear of some guy showing his piece off to friends with the assurance, “Don’t worry... it’s not loaded,” seconds before he puts a slug through his ceiling—if he’s lucky—or his wife’s head (if he’s not)?

slamming the writer--and of course some use the typical argument that he doesn't know exact information about the guns he refers to as an excuse to dismiss his point.

You mean people who don't know what they're talking about are dismissed as not knowing what they're talking about?

"some gun owner did something bad so all gun owners act like this" screed. Really, you'd think the pro-control folks would get some new material by now. I wonder if the poster, who is a group host, would care to actually discuss something per the SOP of this group?

That's the good thing about kicking these old threads.

It reminds us all how utterly ineffectual you and your fellow gun control travelers are at getting anything done in the real world, even with all Bloomberg and that Joyce Foundation's funding.

Since you first posted this you have achieved ... nada?

Now, maybe if you posted something new and useful, like a schedule of Amy Schumer's gun control fund raising events, it would add value? After all, just a few weeks ago she did promise to commit herself to the gun control cause.

How's that going so far?

for his success in getting Democrats voted out of office because they were too weak on gun control. He was cheered on the whole way by pro-control "Democrats" as they seats flipped to Repub.

Now a year later when it is brought up we get to see the mental gymnastics that are used to self-justify that support. Yet they still cannot ever bring themselves to say "I would rather see a "pro-gun" Democrat hold a Congressional set than have it go to a Republican".

Gun control supporters are single issue voters. They are willing to sacrifice the party platform in an act of spite. Ironically they are making their goal ever more difficult to achieve with their short-sightedness.

take a very old Google cut and paste post you could not even take the time or effort to comment or discuss and take even less time to click a smiley.

I truly feel sorry for you if that is the extent of your debating skills.
