This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by krispos42 (a host of the Gun Control & RKBA group).

A woman fatally shot her boyfriend by accident while he was teaching her to use a rifle, police in Florida have said.

The shooting happened early Thursday in their Daytona Beach Shores apartment.

The Daytona Beach Shores Police Department said in a news release: 'Robert F. Branton, 31, was shot in his apartment by his live-in girlfriend, Katie L. Begtrup, 24.'

According to Daytona Beach Shores police, Begtrup called 911 around 12:30 a.m. and told the dispatcher she unintentionally shot her boyfriend in the leg.

Back when I was a field service engineer MSHA would put out "fatalgrams" I used to read every one just to learn how folks were getting killed in mining and what to do to prevent future incidents.

^ Great info, would be nice to see something like this handed out to new shooters to help make them aware.

I would think the host of this forum should kindly remind you of the group SOP. As a host I would think you would be kind enough to follow the group SOP. Sad thing really.

Good, bad, karmic, tragic or as some control proponents have said "One Less"?

If you have guns, is it not fair to assume something like this can happen? It's like people who climb Everest and find they don't have enough oxygen. I mean, they had to know it was in the realm of possibility.

Glad no one uninvolved got hurt. Poor woman will have to live with that memory.

Safety first, getting kilt by your girlfriend later.

A tragic accident among consenting adults in the privacy of their home means there is no political, legal, crime, or self-defense issue that makes it fit the SoP of the Group.
