Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumKim Adkins' campaign office vandalized
Days before the election for the 20th District seat in the Virginia Senate, Democrat candidate Kim Adkins received a startling message on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, staffers with Adkins campaign discovered an act of vandalism had been perpetrated on her Martinsville campaign headquarters, a building located at the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Market Street. The graffiti, written in orange paint, read: Back off, Bi- and also featured a crudely drawn target symbol.
Stanley didnt speculate on the culprits motive, though he noted that Adkins herself a former NRA staffer had supported an executive order recently signed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe barring guns in certain state offices and closing some purchasing loopholes.
My opponent, despite her working for the NRA, has certainly supported gun control measures in the past, he said. Adkins has said publicly that she was a Second Amendment supporter.

(16,974 posts)"In an interview after McAuliffes radio remarks, Stanley highlighted a comment Parker made Tuesday night beneath a post touting an endorsement of Stanley by the NRA.
The comment, one of more than a dozen Parker posted to Stanleys page within roughly 30 minutes, accused Stanley of failing to offer condolences after the shooting and concluded: 'WHEN YOU SEE ME AGAIN, YOU BEST WALK THE OTHER WAY LEST I BEAT YOUR LITTLE ASS WITH MY BARE HANDS.'"

So he's made threats of physical harm before. Mind boggling indeed, how could one come to such a conclusion?

(1,941 posts)Possibly done by Adkins herself to whip up sympathy. 99.999% of Martinsville residents have no idea who Kim Adkins even is. Martinsville is an area in Virginia that was economically devastated by outsourcing in the 1990s.
I can almost guarantee you this was done by another woman who felt (rightly or wrongly) Adkins was encroaching on her man.

(18,318 posts)Maybe we should wait and see how an investigation plays out. Sounds like pretty punky behavior in any case. Stanley didn't help much, either.

(1,941 posts)Comparing a national horror with a local yokel whodunit act of vandalism is ridiculous. The fact is no one has any idea what that act of vandalism even means. Implying that it is related to gun politics at this point is speculation. Kim Adkins is a former NRA employee, who at most acknowledged tacit support for Terry McAuliffe's meaningless posturing on gun control.

(17,502 posts)nor do I think it was a hoax, hoaxes do happen to gain attention. As mentioned before, it is a false equivalence.

Granted, none of these cases have anything to do with the OP, but the possibility does exist.

(7,981 posts)Billionaire Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy group is pouring $2.2 million into TV ads backing two Virginia candidates for state Senate, in a bid to wrest control of the chamber from Republicans.
A victory on Tuesday by one of the Democrats backed by Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety would switch control of the 40-seat Senate in the state, home of the powerful National Rifle Association gun lobby.
That could be a big boost for Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe, a gun control advocate who is seeking legislative victories as he heads presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's election effort in Virginia.
"Guns are always a hot-button issue in Virginia," said Stephen Farnsworth, a political analyst at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg. "It's a wise investment to put money in a campaign that matters."

Surely you haven't forgotten his 'stop and frisk' policies as mayor, which quite disproportionally effected minorities as well, right?
Let me guess:
All is forgiven.

(12,194 posts)And I note the uncomfortable fact that people who support his orgs seem to care nothing about his race issues.
At least they aren't hugging him, licking his boots, or turning a blind eye to his racism.
But theres only a few degrees difference there, right?
