Good news - "Concealed carry gun owner who opened fire gets his gun back "

chicagotribune.com/news/ct-concealed-carry-gun-return-met-1202-20151201-story.html

"A concealed carry gun owner who shot a man who was firing at a group of people in April said Tuesday that Chicago police have returned his licensed firearm.

John Hendricks, 48, was taking a break between Uber fares in the 2900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on April 17 when Everardo Custodio, 23, opened fire on a group near Hendricks' vehicle, according to his account and police records.

Custodio was charged in connection with the shooting and pleaded guilty to related charges in August, according to court records and representatives of the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Hendricks said police took custody of his firearm that night, after he called 911 following the shooting, and that repeated phone calls regarding the status of his gun had gone nowhere until recently. After officials checked his firearm owner's identification card and concealed carry license, his gun was placed in the locked case police told him to bring with him."

Glad to hear he got his property back. I'm gonna bet the recent news articles on the cops sitting on it for months and months pushed it along a little. Chicago cops don't need any more bad press these days.

Just another one of the self defense cases that never happen, with a happy ending.
