White House Finalizing Plan to Take Major Gun Control Action Using Executive Authority, Valerie Jarrett Says
Dec. 10, 2015 1:25pm Jason Howerton
WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) President Barack Obamas advisers are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without congressional approval.
White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review in short order. She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.
Jarrett spoke Wednesday night at a vigil for the victims of the Newtown shooting, according to a summary provided by the White House.
After the mass shooting in Roseburg, Oregon, Obama said his team was looking for ways to tighten gun laws without a vote in Congress. White House officials have said theyre exploring closing the so-called gun show loophole that anti-gun advocates claim allows people to buy weapons at gun shows and online without a background check.

claim allows people to buy weapons at gun shows and online without a background check.
Has someone not told them that federal law applies the same at gun shows, and for online gun sales?? I have ordered guns off the internet several times, still had to get the background check.
O well, crap in, crap out...
And besides. LOL he is completely powerless to do anything about it, via executive order

is through the entity owning/in charge of the "show" facility. Travis Co. Required BG checks for all non-dealer buyers, which would have meant those persons who were selling a gun or two (non-dealer) would have had to somehow go through one of the many FFLs attending. It was never tried out as the SAXET Gun Show movd across the country line and set up shop in another county. The show operates same as it ever was, and (reportedly) Travis Co. is out a million dollars/yr.

Of course, when it comes to the BushCheney® "Lists," some of them take to heart the words of this Broadway musical: "Anything you can do I can do better."

Such unseemly rehabilitation.

wow, talk about right wing links.
anti-gun advocates claim allows people to buy weapons at gun shows and online without a background check.
Maybe the people at the White House should check federal law and see they are being lied to. Bought several weapons off the internet, all had to be shipped to an FFL and background check performed. That is existing federal law.
