(9,951 posts)he/she is very vocal about wanting all firearms banned and confiscated.
Personally, I would go with the Ruger, but I would prefer a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense.

... we're having that "national conversation about guns" that you've been hearing so much about.

(9,951 posts)but you have NO room to complain about that.
He forgot to take is host hat off that he allows off topic and SOP violations to stand in the few posts over in his group. What is the definition of a hypocrite? Not that I am calling him a hypocrite, just curious on the definition.

(654 posts)fits in the waistband fine. Unlock some of the other striker pistols you don't need to pull the trigger to get it assembled. It was a little yellow bar in the magwell that you lift up. Comes with two magazines.

(1,941 posts)But for home defense, in most situations I recommend a shotgun. 12 gauge or 20 gauge is fine. Specifically a Mossberg 500. Stay away from PGO shotguns...they are only for the movies.
With all of that said, if you like the LC9S, then buy the LC9S.

(5,455 posts)The guns listed above are compact or sub compact 9mm more suited for concealment then home defense/car carry.
For home defense a shotgun, in general, is the best all around choice, preferably in 12 gauge due to a wider selection of ammo.
If you choose a pistol, then it should be a full sized one that you shoot well and that is reliable.

(6,771 posts)... whatever you pick for car carry should be something that can easily go with you when you have to leave the car unattended. Unless, of course, you have to enter a "gun free zone." Then you have no choice but to leave it.

(15,396 posts)It's been perfect through close to 4000 rounds now. 7-25 yards at the range and you'd be surprised how easy it is to be accurate with. It also carries like a dream though some folks think the grip is a little long, but IMHO that's what makes it so shootable.
I've also put some trigger time behind the Ruger 9s and it's a great pistol also. I haven't spent any time with the XDS 9, but I've shot the 45 version a bunch and it's also a fine gun. The glock...well for me at the shop it just didn't feel good like the other glocks, nor did it point as well.
You really can't go wrong with any of the single stacks on your list.
I will give honorable mention Taurus G2 (for 12+1) I've been carrying one of these for the past several months since my work requires me to leave it behind in my car at the hospital.
It's been 100% (along with 3 others that I know of) with about 1500 rounds down the pipe so far. At 230 bucks OTD it's a great option for a double stack that's almost the same size as my Shield but just a tad thicker. If you can manage to trust your life to a Taurus.

(13 posts)I actually went from an XDs to the G2 and have been carrying it daily for about a year now. I've put about 2500 rounds through it including everything from dirt cheap Tulla up to Hornady critical duty and have never had a malfunction. I picked it up on sale for right around $250 and couldn't be happier with it.

(10,118 posts)I will have to say the m&p Shield is well balanced, like the porridge in the middle thing,
Add a Talon rubber Grip, and I think I found what I'm looking for. Great help.
