Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumCan I have a gun or two without hoping to oppose the government?
Could I just have them to protect myself under color of law? I have several which is a right as established in the constitution as the right to vote. When people who were my friends were being killed in southeast Asian jungles you liked the idea that I carried what you now call an automatic weapon. Now 45 years later I carry a gun that in those years would be a joke. Can a crippled old man carry an instrument of death??? You let me do it before I was twenty-In fact if I refused you would have jailed me. You're hypocrisy is endless. My guns were what-OK when pointed away, but an assault when my judgement is directed toward defending myself???
I am every 60 year old Vietnam Vet You dislike. Our asses hung out and our contemporaries got killed. I will tell you no stories but your gunphobia is total bullshit until no 18 year old stands in a fucking country not of his birth with a weapon that would make you nervous.
That is my answer to anyone "against" guns-It matters when you have the fucking balls to tell your government that they cannot put a better weapon than I have in the hands of an 18 year old.

(6,409 posts)They made me pack the heat, playing cop with no training, to discourage the petty thieves who stole car stereos from the base parking lot. Now they don' want me to be armed to discourage young men who like to beat up nd robe old men. Ah, well. Times change, I guess.

(6,498 posts)No I didn't.
I'm pretty sure that I was still in high school then.
I was thrown in jail some time later for blocking the Federal Courthouse in Des Moines during the Gary Eklund Draft Registration Trial, though.
No, they weren't. If somebody told you that, they were wrong.
Just like when the NRA tells you that guns are OK, today.
The NRA is wrong, as well.
I don't dislike 60 year old Vietnam Vets.
I fully and wholeheartedly support "Hammer on Gun Crime".
You don't need guns to oppose the government.
Hammers can be helpful at times, though.
IN THE KING OF PRUSSIA: THE TRIAL OF THE PLOWSHARES 8
Published on Apr 9, 2013
IN THE KING OF PRUSSIA: THE TRIAL OF THE PLOWSHARES 8 takes us back to 1982 with Emile de Antonio's portrayal of the Plowshares 8 civic disobedience at General Electric's nuclear weapons plant in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The group included Molly Rush, co-founder of the Merton Center. Posting of this cliip celebrates the April 13 visit of Martin Sheen, who plays the judge in the movie, to Pittsburgh, Pa and the Thomas Merton Center. YOU CAN'T HUG A CHILD WITH NUCLEAR ARMS!!!

I don't think that the author of this OP is interested in watching your movie without some idea of why it has any relevance.
I surely don't.

I'm pretty sure that I'm against guns.
I wouldn't be an advocate of Hammer on Gun Crime if I wasn't.

(18,565 posts)The essential irrelevance of what you say only becomes more obvious with every reply.
Did it ever occur to you that suggestions on changes to current laws might be needed to actually accomplish anything you want?
Perhaps discussing those changes might be a good idea.

Why not?

(6,185 posts)Oppose all the wars you want to in any way you choose.
But when you start demanding that everybody see and enforce gun control your way, that's a bit totalitarian for some folks taste.

(12,148 posts)*is* militarism of a sort, just aimed at your neighbor instead of somebody in a foreign country, IMO.
Advocating to change what troops do or do not do abroad, or opposing excessive LE use of force here at home, doesn't compel your neighbor to live by your beliefs. But threatening to put your neighbor in a cage because she or he peaceably chooses differently than you on gun ownership certainly does.
I don't care how you live your life; just live it to the fullest, and don't harm others.

B) those who love the prospect of the govt jack boot coming down on the necks of those who who won't submit
You seem to want to equate those in group A with those who are breaking the law. And, as I alluded to previously, I suspect that the folks who label those with whom they disagree on the 2A as "ammosexuals", are actually projecting their own sexual fantasies (let's call them "GovtControlSexuals" . Its kind of sad really.
Btw - I don't know what the bottom two videos are depicting, they seem to be important to you however...

(17,502 posts)The guy doesn't have a rifle. He has a Sagia 12 shotgun based on the Kalashnikov design. The BLM is out of his range. Assuming he were to hit anyone, he would probably hit the protesters. That is one of the things that puzzles me about the two photos of this guy.
