Chicago Police confiscate 2,800 guns since start of 2016

The Chicago Police Department touted a new number on Thursday: 2,800 -- the number of guns that they've gotten off the streets since the start of this year.

According to a statement, CPD recovered seven times more guns per capita than the New York Police Department and more than twice per capita as the Los Angeles Police Department.

Has Chicago gotten any safer with all these confiscations?

A few years back, at one of those "show and tell" gun confiscation events gun grabbers love so much (as long as you don't ask any questions or look too closely at their claims) a Chicago reporter named Mick Dumke actually started checking out the evidence tags on the confiscated guns.

Mick discovered many of the guns they were showing had evidence tags dating back up to 5 years ago. (Not unlike our OP tends to do from time to time)

The guns they wanted the photo op from had nothing to do with recent successful police activity, they just wanted to look like they were doing something. In return for asking about the age of the guns, the Mayor threatened to have Dumke thrown out of the event.

But anyone that chooses to applaud the Chicago police about their gun control efforts, should really have a talk with Laquan McDonald's family about how effective and honest the police are.
