Related: About this forumThis Could Be The First Election The Gun Lobby Doesn’t Stand By The Republican Nominee
In his 2000 book The America We Deserve, Donald Trump wrote about his support for common-sense gun control measures, including a ban on assault weapons and longer waiting periods before people can buy firearms. He also called out Republican politicians who are beholden to the gun lobby.
The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions, he wrote.
Less than two decades later, Trump has become one of those Republicans he criticized. I love the NRA. I love the Second Amendment, he told the National Rifle Associations annual convention last year, just months before launching his presidential campaign. I promise you one thing. If I run for president and if I win, the Second Amendment will be totally protected.
Next week, for the second year in a row, Trump will speak at the groups annual meeting, a gathering of tens of thousands of single issue voters who are ready to embrace the real estate mogul and support his run for the White House.

They're no dummies. They know that with a Republican in power, whether he is a full on gun nut or just an opportunist, that the climate is better for their brand of lunacy.
They are going to fall in line behind Trump like every other Republican is going to fall in line behind Trump.

the majority of 2nd amendment supporters believe it exists as a last line of defense against tyranny, and trump is a tyrant.

I read that Trump is a keynote speaker at the NRA meeting next week.
Plus, he has bragged about having and using a rare NYC concealed carry permit ... and hasn't suggested the "Australian Solution".
