Why can't the government get its act together?

Murder, assault, rape and robbery with or without a gun are illegal.
Those who have convictions for most of those are not allowed to buy a gun by numerous federal and state laws.
Those with adjudications for involuntary commitment for mental issues are not allowed to buy a gun.
Those with a dishonorable discharge from the military are not allowed to buy a gun.

Somehow, info on some of these folks never gets to the NICS database.

I hear the NSA has records from of most cell phone calls. They call it "meta data". The contents of the conversations are absent but the parties on the call and time of the call are included. Since the individual state and federal agencies are burdened with supplying those records to the feds, perhaps the feds could somehow spend money to monitor things like court records at the state and county level and not worry so much about when and how often I get a Domino's Pizza or call my wife from the road.
