(1,265 posts)NOWHERSVILLE- Police were called Tuesday afternoon to the Nonexistent Subdivision of Nowheresville for a report of a man sitting outside his home displaying a banner with the word "MOTHER{redacted}".
A passing motorist in the 000 block of Notthere Drive called police after seeing the man with the banner, according to Nowheresville Police Department Deputy Hughes Herdovum.
The man, who was not arrested and will not be identified, told police he was exercising his First Amendment rights, Herdovum said, adding that he was sewing a tear in the banner.
He had an additional banner with a swastika on it and also bumper stickers on which the N-word was prominent. Herdovum said. He made no gestures, he wasnt threatening anybody. He made no statements to anyone.
Although desiring to be respectful of the man's First Amendment rights, police confiscated the banner and warned that any further offenses might lead to his arrest.
Police were no doubt mindful of previous incidents in Nowheresville where obscene banners discharged and several adults and children were injured and there was one fatality.

(87 posts)...but a passing busybody felt it necessary to report someone, doing nothing wrong, to the police -- thereby causing the police to take time away from, oh, I dunno, actually doing their jobs, to go investigate a fellow doing nothing wrong.
Y'know, my neighbor was mowing his lawn the other day -- maybe the police would be interested...? I'm sure they don't have anything else going on...
I also saw a woman eating a hamburger in a restaurant. I'm sure the State Police would be interested. Looked like a really good burger, I'm sure they'll want some lunch at some point.
Yeah, I can really see this sort of thing taking off...

(5,046 posts)Is the strange fact that somehow it made the news in the first place and you deemed it important enough too post it here says much more about the source and op, than the man cleaning his gun.
Cleaning firearms involves the use of some pretty strong solvents (strong enough too dissolve copper and lead) cleaning firearms outside is prudent thing too do, if the smell of solvents bother you or a loved one
But the smell of an old favorite is not offensive

(87 posts)They're so big that you need a shotgun to be able to sit on the front porch!
Okay, I had to stretch a little for the punchline, but still...
