Sundays attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida was the deadliest mass shooting in American history but there were five other mass shootings in the US during that weekend alone.
We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world, Barack Obama said after the San Bernardino attack in December 2015.
Data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive via the crowd-sourced website ShootingTracker.com reveals a shocking human toll: there is a mass shooting defined as four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter on five out of every six days, on average. (Updated on 13 June 2016)

(3,343 posts)As many people die at the end of a gun in America, as died on 9/11.
In the last 50 years 15,000,000 have died at the end of a gun in America.
The gun violence rate now is worse than it was in the 1950s; things are worse despite the violence level falling drastically from the 90s.

It looks like Brit journalism sucks as bad as American journalism.
Orlando was not a "mass shooting". It was a terrorist attack by an ISIS operative, just like California.

(17,502 posts)He and I probably disagree to some extent of guns, as we do on a few other irrelevant things, this is spot on. Mass shooting implies spree killing, this was not. This was an ISIS oprative carry out a mission.

(594 posts)...deadliest "mass shooting" in U.S. history, not by a LONG shot. Of course, they won't tell you that the worst mass shooter is....the U.S. Government.
Wounded Knee, Sand Creek, Washita, Marias River....look it up.

I suppose, once you build a military, it becomes difficult not to pull the trigger now and then.
A militia would be better.
