(5,046 posts)Just pointed out "poorly briefed" some are about the subject at hand...
All the more infuriating how they get "spoon fed" from a rich republican 1%'ers, that was allowed to speak at our national convention..
They just love his money, no matter the costs...

(843 posts)This data shows an obvious trend in fewer deaths because the citizens insist on buying that mouse-gun (Rem .223) which is so underpowered it is not effective in a combat situation, and therefore must be banned.

(3,819 posts)Chicago looks like it is beating that # from last year handily. Why can't we lock up these guys using firearms to kill with (and I'm sure that most/nearly all of these guys don't have FOID cards), and make the City safer? SARCASM THINGY

(11,996 posts)violence are all on the Strategic Subject List.
Police just need legislators and judicial partners to do their jobs.

(3,819 posts)no prison space, state govt spent 8 yrs or so trying to close prisons, some successfully, resulting in overcrowding in others, reduced sentences, etc. Yes, they know who the problem children are, but the street level police can't/won't do much about it, sending them to jail for a short time doesn't solve the long term problems. 1400 people would fill ONE of the prisons closed, re: Joliet. I know it was an old prison, but I would rather see these repeat offender/murderers locked up in an old facility than have them on the street, basically getting away with murder.

(18,579 posts)And how many of them have been charged with "crimes" that shouldn't be crimes?

(3,819 posts)but a good percentage of those I have met are in for drug charges. DUI's, possession, dealing. Depends on the prison. IL is divided into 3 major prison types for adults, max, medium, and minimum. During Blago's governorship, I personally saw the prisoners I dealt with (at a min. prison) go from 6 mo-3 yr sentences to up to 12 yr gigs. The prison where I was at that time was not really built to handle these inmates, as they should have had a higher classification of med., but Blago's DOC admin. was pushing out lower sentencing levels to make room for the longer terms, to attempt to close down 3-4 different prisons during his terms. When I transferred to this place, some of the charges against the I/m's sounded ridiculous, but after working all 3 class of prisons, I realized that the I/m standing in front of me might have been arrested for a dealing charge, but had actually shot or killed someone on the street, just not caught or little proof, and charges pled down. Had a few of them actually "admit" to this. Stating, "i wouldn't be at this joint if they really know what all I did.", or words to that effect.
