not adding your own opinions and answers to those questions to your original postings.

Just something I've noticed.

You might want to correct this habit you appear to be forming here.

BTW - I always found AWB to be just an average band. Nothing special.

Canada's long gun registry was a result of a mass shooting in Montreal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89cole_Polytechnique_massacre
The misogynistic POS, my apologies to fecal matter, used a mini 14. The new law kept the mini "unrestricted" while the AR is "restricted".

As for the rifle itself? I'll take a good lever action over it.

Blessed Be.

5. Mini 14? - under powered and over priced

The Remington .223 ammunition is expensive compared to ordinary .22 long rifle. The mini-14 is at best a varmint control gun that can also be used to shoot mice and small yipping dogs.

That our military has been killing folks with overseas for the last 30 years? Hardly underpowered.

Not one of my guns has killed a person.

My rifle is a bolt action 30.06 - which I would pick it over some mouse gun anytime.

My handgun fires a projectile the same diameter as the 9mm automatic, except it is a .357 magnum revolver - which I would pick over some 'bounce off the windshield' military sidearm.

Still, compared to rifle it replaced, it is under powered. Read "Black Hawk Down". Don't just watch the movie. Lot of info from the book didn't make it to the screen. Like the # of hits it took to take down the Somali's, and the comments from the 2 snipers dropped in, as relayed by the pilot.

Lots of animals, steel, and paper though

The point I'm making is many different people, especially those advocating would love to take a big swing at the AR15, while you show them a wood stocked mini 14 and they don't raise an eyebrow, "looks like My granddaddys gun."

Yes, the .223/5.56 AR15 is less powerful than the m14 and the m1 that predates it. That's common knowledge a .20 caliber round will not be as hot as a .30 caliber round. Still doesn't take away the fact the many m4's have done a bang out job overseas.

If the democrat platform would Drop the guns are scary we need more unaffective laws they wouldn't ever lose another election. Gun control doesn't work.

Problem is, a lot of the folks who want to ban guns don't seem to want to really know what they're banning. Knowledge is power. The lack thereof, is well, you know.

The mini is a great little ranch rifle. Problem is only factory mags seem reliable. I still have 15 or more elcheapo 30 round mags that the previous owner had with the one I bought. I only let go of the 5 factory mags I bought.

Still like the AR platform better...

than guns with icky protruding handgrips, even though the slim straight stock makes it easier to discreetly transport than an AR.

I used to own a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle; handy little carbine, but not as accurate as an AR. Same ammo, rate of fire, and capacity, though. I eventually sold mine and bought a Rock River AR.

I've been told on here that "ergonomics increase lethality." My response is that gun controllers should then be campaigning for a law requiring semi-auto rifle stocks to be made of concrete embedded with shards of glass.

What The Controllers will never appreciate given their intellectual dishonesty/incuriosity is that when it comes to mass killing, it really isn't the weapon that dictates the death toll but the choice of target and skill of the monster.

If memory serves -- and correct me if I'm wrong -- the Orlando shooter could have killed many more, but he simply chose to stop killing and held a number of people hostage. Dumb luck for those folks. Given the fact that he was a fairly skilled shooter, and was devious enough to choose a "fish in a barrel" target he could have killed just as many people with a Mini-14 or more had he decided to keep killing until he ran out of ammo. Change the scenario to a significantly less skilled shooter who picks a different target and the death toll would have been much lower. Of course our resident restriction supporters will never admit this obvious truth. Ban "assault weapons" --- that's the ticket! FFS.......the stupid -- it incinerates!
