Just suppose there was a certain group of people...

...which included an extreme minority who engaged in murder and mayhem, would you favor laws and restrictions on that entire group?

You mean those with a "Y" chromosome? No, I would not favor restrictions on the whole group, since tblue37 Jan 2017 #1
No, I was referring to gun owners. discntnt_irny_srcsm Jan 2017 #2

only those who engage in murder and mayhem are guilty, not those who do not, even if they have a chromosome in common.

(I assume that is where you are going with this question, right?).

men--i.e., that those who commit the most crimes and the most violet crimes are bearers of the "Y" chromosome. That doesn't mean that all men are guilty of such crimes, of course, but that most who are guilty of such crimes are men.

This doesn't mean that a particular male is more likely to victimize you than a particular female but that, if you've been victimized it was likely a male perpetrator.

I'll have to research David Eagleman. That sounds interesting.

In terms of guns, I favor certain prudent laws but I think the idea that law = control is a myth we like to tell ourselves.
