These Trump DOJ Appointees Could Be Instrumental in Shaping National Firearm Laws

Jesse Panuccio, the third-highest ranking official at the Department of Justice, has argued to allow firearms sales to people under age 21 and in defense of a Florida law that prohibited doctors from asking patients if they owned guns.

Noel Francisco, Donald Trump’s nominee for solicitor general, has described the Second Amendment as “a structural protection that’s intended to protect all other rights.”

And Tom Wheeler, now a senior lawyer in the DOJ’s civil rights division, once gave a speech with the title: “Arming Teachers to Prevent Tragedies, Responding to Sandy Hook.”

These three attorneys are among two dozen appointees that the Trump administration is known to have tapped for top Justice Department posts as part of “beachhead teams.” Taking a cue from ProPublica, which disclosed many of the names, we examined the gun-rights records of some the newly installed officials at the department.

The vast majority of left-leaning folks object to right-wingers mischaracterizing the pro-choice position to mean pro-abortion. But of course you knew that.

If you want to play silly-ass semantic games and represent our pro-rights position to mean that we're "pro-gun" knock yourself out. You only diminish your own cred.

Edited to add: I find little humor, though, in slimes like 45 occupying the WH due to Democratic Party dishonesty, hypocrisy, stupidity and arrogance. (as it relates to "gun control&quot

The federally-mandated minimum age to purchase firearms is 18. Do you think that 18-year-olds should be able to serve in our country's military, but should not be allowed to purchase personal firearms?

Joining the military at 18 may require you to train/use a firearm but as a civilian you shouldn't be permitted to buy one.
That wouldn't be a double standard would it.

I mean that in a lighthearted way, but posting that this is a good thing will label me a bad democrat by agreeing with anything trump does or says. Just posting in this group labels us as "gunners" (cough Hoyt, cough), "just waiting for our chance to shoot some one" : (

That being said, anything to strengthen the 2nd is good by me no matter who does it. If that makes me a bad democrat gunner then so be it. I'm honored to post here regardless of labels.

Nope, never. Born into a family of Democrats and gun owners. We do sometimes scratch our heads pondering what has become of the party though. I'm kind of new to politics but my dad often talks of times where it wasn't uncommon to see a pick up truck with 2 or 3 guns in a rifle rack covering the back window, whether a democrat or republican.

And, ask your dad if he remembers the time when the guys would get off work (at their union jobs), get together, and plan a hunt that weekend. Bet there were no "gun grabbers" in that group.
